Belle-A made a splash on Love Island USA even though she was in the villa for only a short amount of time. Fans applauded her for having principles and always abiding by them.
However, many also questioned why her name was spelled very differently from how it is pronounced. Speaking to People, she explained the story behind the same.
Belle-A was the original islander on Love Island USA season 7 and was paired with Nic. However, as soon as the bombshell Cierra Ortega entered the villa, who also formed a connection with Nic, things started to shake up a little bit.
During the first recoupling, the men were allowed to choose their partners, and the girl who would remain single even after that would be eliminated. Nic decided to pursue his connection with Cierra because they have both physical and emotional chemistry.
This caused fans to sympathize with Belle-A, whom they thought was a better deserving candidate and should not have been dumped from the villa so soon.
Belle-A is 22 years old right now and explained that the origin of her name goes way back in her family history and has roots of her heritage from Hawaii.
Her grandmother was named Ann Annie, and thus, she had named her daughter, Belle-A's mother, Vera-Ann. When she was born, her mother had decided to keep the family tradition alive and thus, named her Isabelle-Ann.
What is the story behind Love Island USA star Belle-A's name?
Belle-A's real name is Isabelle-Ann. However, as she grew older, friends and family started to call her Bella. However, she wanted to still retain the uniqueness of her name and thus, decided to rearrange the spelling to Belle-A. She said,
"When I started going by Bella, I wanted it to make sense with my name still. So that's why I started going by Belle-A."
Love Island USA was not an easy emotional experience, especially for Belle-A, after she had exited the Fiji villa. Despite that, the ex-islander says that her family has been a huge support system for her and stood by her no matter what.
However, she was not sure how her parents would react to the news of her going to Fiji, and thus, she was hesitant to tell them about it. But when she revealed the news to them, Belle-A said that they embraced her with "arms wide open" and were proud of her and supported her.
And when she exited the villa and came back home a little early, Belle-A says that her family was supportive of her even at that time, and this makes her feel blessed to have them by her side.
