Ahead of its impending season finale, MobLand recently dropped what could arguably be termed as the most fascinating episode of this season. The recently released eighth episode of MobLand progressed several storylines at once, with the ongoing war between the Harrigans and the Stevensons gearing up towards a massive showdown.

On the other hand, the London police administration has also stepped into the mud now with the shocking murder of two of its prominent officers. One of the most intriguing twists presented on the latest episode of MobLand had Tom Hardy's Harry Da Souza killing the Stevenson family henchman Freddie Shaw after throwing him off the roof.

Here's everything that you need to know.

MobLand: Freddie had to go because he simply knew too much

Freddie Shaw worked for the Stevensons until Harry put leverage against him by blackmailing him with photos that prove his affair with Richie's late wife, Vron. Harry made sure that Freddie would work for the Harrigans while seemingly pledging his loyalty to the Stevensons on the surface. This arrangement worked well for a while, and Harry benefited from having a mole within Richie's inner circle. However, the status quo lately went for a toss on MobLand after the death of Brendan and the escalation of the war between the Harrigans and the Stevensons.

On the latest episode of the show, Harry went to meet Freddie for a rooftop rendezvous inside the latter's car. Harry, of course, had his trusted aides stand by for any exigency. Harry sought information about the Fentanyl operation from Freddie, and the latter soon obliged. He then confessed that there is a mole within the Harrigan family. The real identity of the mole remained elusive as it was revealed to Harry off-screen. Harry then threw Freddie off the roof and sent him plummeting down to his death.

Harry decided to kill Freddie simply because the latter had become too much of a liability and had to go because he knew too much. The very fact that he gave up the identity of the mole so easily led Harry to believe that it was only a matter of time before he ratted Harry to Richie or, worse, spilled the truth to Conrad.

Pierce Brosnan speaks about his character from MobLand

Veteran actor Pierce Brosnan is no stranger to playing negative characters; however, Conrad Harrigan might just be his most intense role to date. Speaking in an exclusive interview with the Television Academy, Brosnan revealed how the character fell into his lap:

"When this job came across my desk last summer, it was called The Donovans, I was going to play the grandfather or great-grandfather to Ray Donovan, something like that. There were five scripts, and I just loved the writing of Ronan Bennett (The Day of the Jackal). And, of course, Jez Butterworth (The Agency) is a great wordsmith and a great dramatist. So I said ‘yes.’"

MobLand airs new episodes on Paramount+ every Sunday.
