The upcoming season finale for MobLand is going to be one of a kind, after the penultimate episode, which was full of absolute mayhem. Episode 9, titled 'Beggars Banquet', had a haunting ending as the Irish gangster patriarch Conrad Harrigan and his wife, Maeve Harrigan, are arrested on suspicion of murder. Maeve and Conrad looked anything but defeated as they were being escorted, while belting out an Irish ballad.
Another scene from the episode that stands out is when Harry witnesses Alice taking DNA proof from the Harrigan house and allows her to leave with the wine glass and a burnt cigar, which could be used to implicate the Harrigan matriarch and patriarch.
Harry allows Alice to pass because he, too, wants Meave and Conrad out of the way. Alice is an undercover police officer, and part of their grand plan is to have Alice plant DNA such that Colin frames Conrad and Meave. Here's everything that happened in this sequence of the penultimate MobLand episode to understand Harry's motives behind this action.
Harry allows Alice to leave with the DNA in MobLand: Here's what we know

The enemy of your enemy is your friend. It appears as if retired police officer Colin Tattersall took this to heart, as he partnered with Richie to bring down the Harrigans and had them arrested in the penultimate episode of MobLand Season 1. Tattersall employs Alice, Jan's fake friend, whose real name we learn is Nicola, to work undercover and help them bring down the Harrigan empire.
Alice, it appears, has been working as an undercover agent for eight years and is not completely in the clear when it comes to morality, and has no problem bending the rules. Initially, Alice refuses Tatterstall's offer, saying she doesn't want to get killed by going into the Harrigans' dinner.
However, Tatterstall manipulates her into doing it, tempting her with a promotion and the credit. It is also revealed that she has previously planted evidence where there was none to help get convictions, and it appears, this is the skill that Tatterstall has hired Alice for. He intends to manufacture evidence against the Harrigans and get them locked up, from where Richie Stevenson will take up the strings and exact his revenge.

We later find out that Alice will be going into the dinner without wearing a wire, however, there will be a listening device outfitted onto her smartphone. Additionally, a tactical team will be placed only a minute out to help her out in case things go south. Alice never manages to get a confession from the Harrigans on her listening device, but it turns out her real aim is to collect DNA from either the Harrigan patriarch or the matriarch, or both, if possible, which would go a long way as evidence for getting them convicted.
She excuses herself from the dinner table as the Harrigan family starts bickering within itself, and grabs a wine glass that Maeve left behind, which also has a burnt cigar in it, previously used by Conrad. She seals these as DNA of the Conrad and Maeve Harrigan, but just as she turns around, Harry walks into the room and catches her with the evidence. Even though he recognizes the wine glass and the cigar for what they are, he still allows her to walk away before the police swarm the place and arrest Conrad and Harrigan.

Only time will tell if Harry allows Alice to pass through because he wants Conrad and Maeve to be arrested so that he can leave the Harrigan enterprise, or if he is setting up Alice as well as Richie up for a fall. Or it could be something else entirely. That is the thing about MobLand: you don't know what happens until you're in front of the screen watching it happen, and even then, sometimes you don't understand what's happening.
Tune in for the MobLand finale episode, set to air on June 1, 2025.
