Why I think Love Island UK’s Yasmin deserves to win it all

Love Island UK thrives on drama, romance, and contestants willing to shake things up. Season 12 has delivered all three thanks to one person: Yasmin Pettet. The 24-year-old entered the villa on Friday, 13th June, and immediately lived up to her status as a bombshell.

She called out Toni Laites for claiming she’d move to the UK for love, calling it “bullsh*t” without hesitation. Since then, she’s kissed multiple islanders during games, pursued conversations with whoever catches her eye, and refused to play it safe despite being coupled with Shea Mannings.

The ITV2 reality show Love Island UK places singles in a villa where they must couple up to survive elimination votes. Bombshells enter mid-season to test existing relationships and create chaos. Most fail to make a real impact.

Yasmin’s approach stands out. She’s navigating the villa boldly and unapologetically, staying true to herself while staying competitive. While other contestants tiptoe around feelings and play nice, she’s making moves that could change everything. Her approach might ruffle feathers, but it’s exactly what Love Island UK needs. Here’s why Yasmin deserves to take home the crown.

Why Yasmin is the ultimate Love Island UK bombshell

Yasmin wasted no time making her presence felt. Her first conversation involved calling out Toni’s claims about relocating for love. When the other girls questioned her later, she didn’t backtrack or soften her stance.

"I said what I said," she told them directly.

No beating around the bush. No fake apologies.

This set the tone for everything that followed. Yasmin understood her role from day one and executed it perfectly. Despite coupling with Shea, Yasmin has pursued connections with Harry Cooksley and Dejon Noel-Williams. She took Harry to the terrace for private chats and even joked about a threesome with Dejon and Toni.

During recent dare games, she kissed both Harry and Dejon but notably skipped Shea entirely. Bold? Absolutely. Smart? Even more so.

Former islanders of Love Island UK consistently give the same advice to newcomers. Harriett Blackmore explained it best:

"I feel like you need to treat everyday like it's your last. Like if you actually fancy someone then just say it because you don't know how long you're going to be in there, you don't know how everything is going to go day-to-day. So, if you don't do that one thing then you could just literally be out the villa."

Matilda Draper added:

"You need to be bold."

Yasmin embodies this philosophy completely. Too many contestants get comfortable and forget they’re on Love Island, not Friendship Island. Yasmin refuses to fall into this trap.

She’s talking to everyone in the villa. Testing waters. Creating genuine connections instead of settling for convenience. While others worry about stepping on toes, she’s focused on finding her person.

The villa already has established couples and friendships. It would be easy to play it safe and avoid conflict. Yasmin chose the opposite path. She came to win, not just participate.

Why she deserves the crown

Season 12 of Love Island UK was getting predictable before Yasmin arrived. Her presence has injected new life into storylines and forced other islanders to step up their games.

Even her initial target, Toni, seems to harbor no real grudges. They’re getting along well now, proving Yasmin’s directness comes from strategy, not malice.

Yasmin represents everything Love Island should celebrate: authenticity, boldness, and game awareness. She’s not playing for second place or hoping to coast to the end.

Every conversation serves a purpose. Every move has intention. Every day brings new possibilities because she refuses to limit herself.

The other contestants could learn from her approach. The boys are exploring their options freely—why shouldn’t the girls do the same?

Yasmin came to play Love Island properly. That alone makes her worthy of victory.

You can watch Love Island UK every night (except Saturdays) at 9 p.m. BST on ITV2, or stream it anytime on ITVX.
