It's been a very long wait for the fourth installment of the Love, Death & Robots series, but it is finally going to be here now. The third season of the animated series was released in 2022, and fans have been waiting since then for Netflix to announce the next installment's release.
After a long hiatus, it was officially announced that the show will premiere on May 15, 2025. Due to the long wait, season 4 already has a lot of hype and expectations that it will maintain the high standards of the previous installments.
Here's why we think the Love, Death & Robots Season 4 took so long to release.
Love, Death & Robots Season 4 was the show's longest break yet
Netflix announced in August 2022, three months after Season 3 was released, that Love, Death & Robots was renewed for another season. Season 3 had nine episodes, and there wasn't a cliffhanger of any sort that fans had to wait for in the next season.
When it comes to anthology shows, this one has cracked the code. Its simple method of staying completely original in each story, making every episode memorable, has made it stand out. The next batch of episodes for Love, Death & Robots has been a long time coming, so they are sure to be an equally memorable experience for their audience.
The three-year break is the longest break for the show, as the first and second seasons had a two-year gap between them, whereas the second and third had only a one-year gap. The animation style of the show is bound to take a lot of time, but the SAG-AFTRA strikes are also bound to have affected the show's release timeline.
Add to that the fact that Prime Video's Secret Level was also made by the same creative team, which meant a much longer-than-anticipated break for the fourth season.

However, the wait is now almost over. Seasons 2 and 3 had both been released in May, so it was very clear what Miller meant when he was questioned about the show's release, and he answered this:
"Look at when we traditionally released the show."
Netflix has announced that the fourth installment of the show will have 10 episodes, which is slightly longer than the last season, and all of these episodes will debut together on May 15. The show will follow Love, Death & Robots' tradition in terms of its structure, meaning every story will be self-contained, unique, and span anywhere from 5 minutes to 20.
Another Love, Death & Robots tradition that the fourth season will follow is that multiple animation studios based around the world will be working on the different episodes. The lead production studio, Tim Miller's Blur Studio, has collaborated with several studios to bring the animated series to life. There are no exact story details about the show yet, but hopefully it will be filled with humor, suspense, and emotions as the trailer suggests.
