Why does Lucy from Tell Me Lies look familiar? Here's where you've seen the actress before

Hulu's latest thriller series, Tell Me Lies, keeps you on the edge of your seat till the end. In short, it isn't a comforting watch. It lingers even when the credits roll in. It might anger you, you might even feel exhausted, but there are lessons to be learnt as well. When you start binge-watching the series, Lucy Albright might seem familiar. And that's because the 29-year-old actor isn't new to the television industry.

Grace Van Patten, who plays Lucy in Tell Me Lies, has been in the industry since she was eight years old. Yes, you read that right, she debuted in The Sopranos, as Ally Pontocorvo (Eugene and Deanne's daughter) in Season 6. In a candid chat with People, speaking about her experience in The Sopranos, she revealed

"It was amazing. I fell more in love with doing it, but I was so wrong, I wasn't like, 'This is what I'm going to do forever.' It felt like a super fun thing that I saw all these amazing people doing, but I could not picture it as a career. I mean, I was 8, obviously. "

Although she debuted at the age of eight, it was only after a decade that she pursued acting as a career. Turns out, Van Patten's parents weren't fully convinced to let her start young. So after completing her education, Van Patten decided to audition for roles. However, she wasn't sure whether she wanted to choose acting as her career; she told People,

"I saw my dad as a director, I saw how unpredictable it was, and it wasn't all just exciting and fun. I saw how fulfilling and creative and exciting it was, and then I saw how challenging and unpredictable and scary it was. I didn't have this glamourized idea of it."

But fate had other plans. Patten was roped in to play Ellie for Netflix's rom-com Tramps, and it went to premiered at the 41st Toronto International Film Festival. Some of her early projects include:

Grace Van Patten plays Lucy Albright in Hulu's Tell Me Lies. For many, she might seem familiar. You might have seen her acing the lead role in The Twisted Tale of Amanda Knox. Yes, she's the actress who played Amanda Knox in Hulu's crime biographical miniseries. Others might have seen her as Zoe Marconi in Nine Perfect Strangers. Lucy's a complex character, and Van Patten aces the role. Initially, she appears as a confident college freshman, but beneath it lies trauma that later affects her relationship with Stephen DeMarco. Van Patten brings out the best and worst of Lucy.

The series takes us back to the 2000s. It is set in a fictional college where our leads meet each other for the first time. It follows the toxic relationship between a college freshman and a junior over a span of eight years. At the centre of the story is Lucy Albright and her partner, Stephen DeMarco. There's infedility, manipulation, lies, and everything that screams red flags in a relationship. It's dark, it's messy, and a message for what a relationship should not be like. Anyways, throughout the series, we do find out the past trauma that Lucy and Stephen endured.
