Ever since the One Tree Hill reboot has gone into development, fans have been excited to see the return of the original cast members. The show was announced to be in the works in September last year, with Sophia Bush and Hilarie Burton reprising their roles of Brooke Davis and Peyton Sawyer respectively.
Another star from the original series has now expressed his interest in returning for the revival. Austin Nichols, who played the role of Julian Baker, has revealed that he wants to reprise his role in the upcoming series. The actor said in an interview with Deadline:
“I would absolutely love to [play Julian again]. I spent a lot of years doing that show and fell in love with Wilmington, North Carolina, and made a lot of great friends there. I spent a lot of years doing that show and fell in love with Wilmington, North Carolina, and made a lot of great friends there.”
He added:
“We had a lot of fun. And ultimately, when something still has this kind of excitement around it this many years later, you kinda go, ‘Oh my god! Yeah, why not make more of it? People still watch it and love it.’
Austin Nichols wants to return as Julian Baker in the One Tree Hill reboot
Austin Nichols added that the production team is currently working on the scripts of the One Tree Hill reboot, and he hopes to hear from them soon:
“I think it could be great. I know that they’re writing scripts, and there’s been some notes and some back and forth. It sounds good. Hopefully, we have some good news soon.”
Currently, only Sophia Bush and Hilarie Burton are confirmed to star in the revival series. The show is expected to be set 20 years after the previous one. Peyton Sawyer and Brooke Davis are now mothers to teenage children, who deal with various challenges at the titular school.
Jana Kramer, who played Alex Dupre in the original, previously said in an interview that the creators want to ‘bring back people that make sense.’ Since Julian got married to Brooke Davis in One Tree Hill Season 8 and had children with her, Austin can certainly make appearances in the reboot.
The inaugural teen drama aired on The CW (initially The WB) from 2003 to 2012, and narrated the story of two half-brothers, Lucas and Nathan Scott. While they were staunch rivals at first, they grew closer over the years. Apart from Sophia Bush, Hilarie Burton, and Austin Nichols, the show starred Chad Michael Murray as Lucas Scott and James Lafferty as Nathan Scott.
The rest of the cast included Bethany Joy Lenz as Haley James Scott, Paul Johansson as Dan Scott, Lee Norris as Marvin "Mouth" McFadden, Robert Buckley as Clay Evans, and Jackson Brundage as Jamie Scott. The reboot will premiere on Netflix, but its release date has not been announced yet.
