Peacemaker Season 2's teaser trailer was released on May 9, 2025. It is filled with a lot of references to the wider DC Universe. Furthermore, the teaser also implied a wider DC multiverse. You know that things are interesting when the teaser trailer of a superhero show gives away a possible major plot point. We are talking about the presence of Maxwell Lord, Hawkgirl, and Guy Gardner's Green Lantern.

The teaser for Peacemaker Season 2 begins with Leota Adebayo driving Christopher Smith to an abandoned toy store. But it is when Chris enters the store that we learn what this is about. Maxwell Lord, Green Lantern, and Hawkgirl are interviewing Chris as a possible candidate for their unnamed superhero team. We don't know if it is Justice League or just the precursor to the iconic DC Superhero team we know.

Peacemaker Season 2 might sow the seeds for the Justice League:

Right in the opening minutes of the Peacemaker Season 2 teaser trailer, we learn that Chris/Peacemaker was interviewed and rejected by Hawkgirl, Maxwell Lord, and Green Lantern as their team member. People believe that the superhero team we saw in the Superman teaser trailer, featuring Hawkgirl and Green Lantern, is possibly dissolved in that movie.

Fans on the internet are speculating that Mister Terrific and Metamorpho leave the team in that movie. People believe that the heroes seen in Superman, except for the titular one, are all corporate-sponsored superhero teams in the vein of The Seven from The Boys. Superman's presence will encourage the universe to move towards a more community-based superheroism.

But even then, Maxwell Lord doesn't want to let go, and he manages to convince Hawkgirl and Guy Gardner to stand by his side, and they try to recruit other heroes for their team, of which Peacemaker is one. But why is Maxwell Lord trying to form his own superhero team in Peacemaker Season 2, though? It is probably to protect himself from corporate and other super-powered foes.

Will Peacemaker Season 2 dwell into Maxwell Lord's villainy?

When we meet Maxwell Lord in Superman and Peacemaker Season 2, he may look harmless or just a garden-variety philanthropist who wants to help people. However, people who know the comics will know that there is more to Maxwell Lord than what he shows publicly. If he survives the finale of this HBO series, James Gunn might be setting up Maxwell Lord to follow the comics.

In the comics, Maxwell Lord began as an ally to the Justice League. However, it was later revealed that Maxwell Lord was just biding his time and betrayed the League. Furthermore, Maxwell Lord also has the power to control his opponents' minds. He needs to be careful while using this power, though, because it accelerates his brain tumor, causing him to bleed through his nose.

Thus, some believe that Maxwell Lord may prove to be the DCU's formidable opponents after Superman and Peacemaker Season 2.

"The new season follows Christopher “Chris” Smith, aka Peacemaker, the vigilante Super Hero as he struggles to reconcile his past with his newfound sense of purpose while continuing to kick righteous evil-doer butt in his misguided quest for peace at any cost"

Peacemaker Season 2 will begin streaming on Max from August 21, 2025.
