Georgie & Mandy's First Marriage, which is the sequel and spin-off to Young Sheldon and a prequel to The Big Bang Theory, is based on Georgie and Mandy's marriage. As the title and The Big Bang Theory suggest, Georgie and Mandy do not have a smooth marriage, and thus the show aims at telling us how their first marriage went.

Since it is a direct sequel to Young Sheldon, the show has featured several characters from Young Sheldon in recurring roles. We have seen Mary, Missy, and Meemaw on Georgie & Mandy's First Marriage, and even George, who appeared in a dream scene. But we're yet to see Sheldon on the show.

One might wonder why Sheldon is the only main character from Young Sheldon yet to visit Georgie and Mandy. While there isn't any confirmation from the creators, Raegan Revord, who plays Missy Cooper in both shows, has revealed why Sheldon's appearance in Georgie & Mandy's First Marriage might not fit into the bigger story.

Why we might not see Sheldon on Georgie & Mandy's First Marriage

The Big Bang Theory fans know that Sheldon and Georgie shared a strained relationship, or almost no relationship, after George passed away. Georgie wasn't happy with how Sheldon left for Caltech right after George's death, and wasn't there for his family. Sheldon's leaving significantly changed Mary, which is partly why Georgie doesn't have a good relationship with his younger brother.

As Raegan Revord pointed out in an interview with Entertainment Tonight, in the present time of Georgia and Mandy's first marriage, Sheldon and Georgie are most likely not on talking terms. Speaking about Iain Armitage's potential appearance as Sheldon in Georgie & Mandy's First Marriage, Revord said,

"That would be so much fun, but I feel like if, because they’re sticking to the Big Bang Theory lore and everything, because the whole thing in The Big Bang Theory is Georgie and Sheldon don’t talk, because they kind of have a rift between them after George dies. And so if they’re sticking to that, I feel like it wouldn’t make sense for Sheldon to come back. But who knows? Maybe they’ll find a loophole. They have found loopholes before. Maybe they’ll find one again."

As Revord pointed out, if Georgie & Mandy's First Marriage plans to stick to the story The Big Bang Theory established, Sheldon will most likely not appear in the show.

However, since the creator Chuck Lorre and executive producers Steven Molaro and Steve Holland behind The Big Bang Theory have created Georgie & Mandy's First Marriage, they know the show's world the best. Thus, if they wish to bring Sheldon back for a special appearance, they can find a way.

But even if we don't see Sheldon again, it wouldn't change anything about the show since it is not about Sheldon, but about Georgie and Mandy, and the family they have. We'll get more insight into the couple's marriage and how it did not work out in season two. It will premiere on CBS on 16th October 2025.

Season one of Georgie & Mandy's First Marriage and all seasons of Young Sheldon are streaming on Paramount+.
