Anthony Grasso, played by Fabien Frankel, is a detective from Delaware County, a crucial character in the HBO mini-series, Task.

At first, he appears as an honest cop, but later it turns out that he was a mole in the task force that was investigating Dark Hearts, a well-known biker gang. His treachery was a surprise not only to his co-workers but also to the viewers.

The motives for Grasso's actions are portrayed as complex and thus do not only include money but also a certain amount of disbelief in the institution. His inner turmoil and the moral consequences add to his character, making it more real. It also brings out the personal and ethical dilemmas of people who go against the law, betraying themselves and their colleagues.

The saga of Anthony Grasso's involvement with the Dark Hearts is the outcome of a long-running and twisted history of corruption and moral decay. For the record, Grasso was initially a detective working for Chief Dorsey, who became the gang's corrupt informant.

It was Dorsey who persuaded Grasso to betray their law enforcement mission, which was being operated secretly and carried out by the police, creating an alliance that compromised several investigations over a number of years.

Money was the major factor and incentive, which is typical in such corrupt associations, but Grasso's character marks extreme skepticism about the legal and justice systems. This adds a psychological and emotional dimension to the act of betrayal, portraying a man who was driven by the harshest of circumstances and a complete loss of faith in the institutions that he had once served.

The series shows that Grasso was not just an informant but was involved with the Dark Hearts’ operations. He was able to leak sensitive information and undermine the activities aimed at bringing the gang to justice.

However, Grasso's human side is seen in his suffering when Lizzie, a co-worker and his love interest, dies because of the compromised investigation. This misfortune emphasizes his struggle between good and evil and creates suspense as to whether Grasso will manage to redeem himself or his bad choices will completely ruin him.

The showmakers skillfully unveiled his character's motivations to avoid a one-dimensional villain portrayal, insisting on his crisis of faith and disillusionment as the main factors of his actions.
