While The Rookie has featured many solid partnerships on the professional front, the procedural's romantic pairings are also one of a kind.
From Lucy & Tim, Nolan & Bailey, to Angela & Wesley, all the couples featured in the show share sizzling on-screen chemistry, which makes the show even more exciting. While Chenford has been the all-time favorite, it's high time that the show brings Angela and Wesley's partnership back in the fold again.
The couple met in Season 1, when Angela was still a training officer, who locked horns with Wesley, a defense attorney. Their professions immediately put them at odds with one another, but their playful banter eventually transformed into casual dating and then into marriage.
Angela and Wesley are easily the most underrated couple in The Rookie, who have proved time and again that they are perfect for each other. Their commitment to each other, especially in tragedy, proves that the show needs to bring back the heart of their relationship.

It's high time The Rookie shines some spotlight on Angela and Wesley's relationship
While Chenford is always the talk of the town in The Rookie, with their slow burn and will-they-won't-they romance, Angela and Wesley deserve some much-needed spotlight in the show's latest season.
One of the earliest couples on the show, Angela and Wesley started dating casually (after many heated arguments regarding their jobs), and they eventually found their solid footing and even got married in Season 3.
Angela and Wesley are one of the couples who can engage in friendly banter while respecting one another and that is really what makes them special. While The Rookie has focused on many storylines featuring Wesley and Angela in the initial seasons, the couple has really faded into the background in the latter seasons.
With all the focus on Chenford's breakup and Nolan & Bailey's efforts to adopt a child, Angela and Wesley have been majorly sidelined. The way Angela and Wesley handle difficult situations together is commendable, and The Rookie should include some storylines focusing on the couple in Season 8.
The Rookie: Angela and Wesley might face some challenges in Season 8
Wesley left his job as a defense attorney and became an assistant district attorney in The Rookie Season 5. Since then, the show has not featured a dedicated storyline for the couple.
However, this could change in the upcoming season as showrunner Alexi Hawley had suggested in an interview with Collider that Wesley can run for District Attorney in Season 8:
"It would certainly make sense for Wesley, who was a defense attorney and believes very strongly in righting the wrongs of an injust justice system. He’s an assistant DA, they have not a ton of power, so becoming the DA would give him an ability to shake things up. So, we’re definitely kicking the tires on that idea.”
Being DA would certainly give Wesley some much-needed power, which he can also use to team up with his wife to solve some high-profile cases. Since most of the show's couples grow together while working on cases, it might be the push Angela and Wesley need in the new season, and their story will get some spark.
