Percy Jackson and the Olympians Season 2 aired its first episode on December 10, 2025. The series created quite a buzz among Rick Riordan fans who grew up admiring the franchise. The reason that the series is getting even more hypes is that Riordan, himself, is the executive producer and co-writer. This is something missing from the movie adaptations.

The first season, which aired in 2023, had The Lightning Thief as the central plot. Eventually, Percy Jackson and the Olympians Season 2 shall cover the plot of the second book of the series, The Sea of Monsters.

Besides the core trio (Percy, Annabeth, and Grover), this season introduced some new but noteworthy characters to the narrative. One such character is Tyson, Percy Jackson's Cyclops half-brother. He is introduced as an adorable but strong character and soon caught the attention of fans.

The audience was soon asking who played the character, and many even noted that he looked familiar. So, let's check where you have seen Daniel Diemer (Tyson) before. You guessed it right, he played Paul Munsky in the popular Netflix project, The Half of It, in 2020.

Diemer played one of the main leads in the movie. Paul Maunsy is an interesting character, by the way. He was supposedly a new-age version of the 'Christian' figure from Edmond Rostand's play, Cyrano de Bergerac. He plays a sweet footballer for Squahamish High School.

The story takes a turn when he seeks Ellie Chu's help to help him write letters to his crush, Aster. But as they develop a platonic bond, Ellie ends up developing romantic feelings towards Aster, resulting in a bittersweet love triangle.

Diemer here, too, plays an admirable, helpful character, which is not much different from Tyson's in Percy Jackson and Olympus Season 2, if we navigate the character arc from an abstract angle. But the challenge in the latter is fighting entities, and not just teenage infatuations.

Diemer's other roles before Percy Jackson and the Olympians Season 2: TV series

Fast forward to 2024, and he was seen in a much more serious role. He played a young police officer, Scott Bentland, in the limited series Under the Bridge. In Netflix's horror-drama The Midnight Club, Diemer is seen in two roles. Bill (a younger version of the lead's father) and Rhett (a character in one of the narrated stories).

In Sacred Lies season 2, the actor plays the protagonist, Jordan's brother, Cole.

Movies

Before joining the cast of Percy Jackson and the Olympians Season 2, Daniel Diemer acted in Supercell as the protagonist, William Brody. He also acted in Little Brother as Jake. This role was much more complex as the character is seen fighting mental health concerns and suicidal thoughts.

The actor's other notable works include Absolution (as Kyle Conner) and Brazen (as Rand Morgan). All these projects led to widespread recognition among fans.

Percy Jackson and the Olympians Season 2 treats Tyson as a powerful demigod but keeps the innocence and friendly nature intact, pretty much like in the book. Now, coming to the physical appearance, the series does not use much prosthetics.

The CGI effects did an incredible job in balancing the actor's eye movements with Cyclops' single eye. So, the physical attributes, acting skills and character depth combined, Tyson was a strategic addition to Percy Jackson and the Olympians Season 2 cast list.
