Wild Things: Justin Theroux to play Steve Wynn in the Apple TV+ series

Actor Justin Theroux has been roped in to play Steve Wynn in Apple TV+'s Wild Things. Steve Wynn was the Las Vegas hotel magnate who bought the infamous magicians to The Mirage in Paradise, Nevada, in 1990.

Steve Wynn was an important figure who skyrocketed Siegfried and Roy's career, and the American real estate developer will likely have an equally significant role in Apple TV+'s upcoming series. Early in his career, Wynn invested in real estate and oversaw the construction of famous Las Vegas hotels like Golden Nugget, the Bellagio, Treasure Island and The Mirage. Additionally, he is credited with playing a significant role in the development of the Las Vegas Strip.

Wild Things will mark another Apple TV+ original in Justin Theroux's career after 2021's The Mosquito Coast, where he played the role of Allie Fox. Justin Theroux is also known for his film credits like Zoolander, Mulholland Drive, Miami Vice and Beetlejuice Beetlejuice. He is also set to star in David Frankel's upcoming feature film The Devil Wears Prada 2.

What is Wild Things about?

Apple TV+'s upcoming biographical drama series is about the enigmatic life of Siegfried & Roy, two German-American entertainers and magicians. The duo met in 1959 when they were performing solo shows on cruises and clubs. They became a powerhouse duo in the 60s and started performing together in European clubs and theatres.

Both Siegfried & Roy created a name for themselves, and in 1967, the duo was finally called to perform in Sin City, the most successful leg of their career.

Wild Things will explore the controversial and mysterious relationship between the infamous magicians and how they redefined entertainment in Las Vegas in the 60s. Their flamboyant, Liberace-style costumes and use of majestic white tigers were a hit among their audience, which directly earned them the invitation to perform at The Mirage by Steve Wynn in 1990.

Their collaboration with Wynn made Siegfried & Roy the highest-paid entertainers in Las Vegas, with their show grossing $500 million by 1999. However, as Wild Things' logline reads:

''The duo push the concept of illusion versus reality to the extreme, personally and professionally, until tragedy reframes and opens a mystery surrounding their last fateful Las Vegas show.”

Their successful career was tragically halted in 2003 when Roy was critically injured by a tiger during a performance. The Apple TV+ series will revisit that tragic event and how it changed the entertainers' lives forever.
