NCIS: Origins is all set to come back with its second season. With only a few hours left for the next season to arrive, the anticipation keeps on building regarding the cliffhanger of the first season. The first season of NCIS: Origins ends with a major cliffhanger about a character’s life. Special Agent Cecilia "Lala" Dominguez’s life is hanging by a thread.

At the end of the first season, we see that she comes across a dangerous accident. While trying to save a pedestrian, she tries to maneuver her jeep. However, the jeep topples and even rolls multiple times.

The situation of the car is not in a good state, which also indicates that her situation will be dangerous. Surviving such a gruesome accident can be difficult. Will she be able to make a recovery? While discussing the second season and Lala’s fate, Austin Stowell might have revealed some secrets. Though the manner in which the accident happens, chances of survival are slim to none. However, it cannot be denied that Lala is a crucial character in the series. She is also the romantic interest of Gibbs. Hence, the chances of her survival are quite high.

Austin Stowell indicated that “coming back into the workplace” would definitely not be a quick thing for Lala, and she would need to take “baby steps”. He added that there are going to be “adjustments”. His words definitely point out that Lala is alive and she will make a comeback. However, before even rejoicing the fact that Lala could make a comeback, the NCIS: Origins star adds that it is all “hypothetical” in case Lala survives.

Stowell’s carefully chosen words indicate that there is more to the story than he is ready to reveal for the time being. He definitely knows how to raise the eagerness and anticipation. Lala’s distinct nature truly complemented Gibb’s personality. It cannot be denied that there is much that can be explored if Lala returns, especially in the aspect of Lala and Gibb’s relationship.

Austin Stowell also adds that “Lala will be back in some capacity”. So, until the episode airs, there is truly no way to confirm Lala’s fate. However, we can hope. If she is alive and makes a speedy recovery, it would truly be worth watching. There is definitely an optimistic tone to Austin Stowell’s words, even though he adds the word “hypothetical” to it.

If Lala does not survive, then it would undoubtedly cause a major impact on Gibb’s. If that happens, then the second season of NCIS: Origins could follow Gibbs’ journey of navigating through this challenging time. The whole series is a character-driven one. Each and every character brings out a certain level of intrigue to the overall storyline.

The first episode of the second season drops at 9 PM E.T. The episode will be aired on CBS. A streaming option is also available on Paramount+. The second episode will drop on October 21. NCIS: Origins dives into the story of Leroy Jethro Gibbs as he joins the NIS Camp Pendleton office. The series is narrated by older Gibbs. Mark Harmon narrates the series as older Gibbs.
