In an interview with ScreenRant, Derek Haas shared that he has been thinking about what a second season might look like. Though he seems hopeful, he’s being cautious about making serious plans. He said to ScreenRant,

“Oh yeah. I've been thinking about season 2. The truth is, you don't want to get too far ahead, because the real world rears its head, and then you want to be able to be in the moment of what's happening in the world when you're doing a show like this. So I've definitely been thinking about plots for season 2, but I'm not past that.”

While season two is not confirmed, it'll be a success if it does happen. Neither Haas nor Ackles is a stranger to television success. Haas has created hit shows like Chicago Fire, Chicago P.D., and FBI: International. Jensen Ackles is also widely popular for his performance as Dean Winchester on Supernatural and as Soldier Boy in The Boys.

Given that both the creator and the main lead are successful in their fields, fans would appreciate a second season, and it'll most likely be a hit.

Countdown shares some similarities with other Prime Video hits like Reacher and can have an equally devoted fanbase. Shows like Reacher are usually renewed for multiple seasons, thanks to their story and fan base. Thus, if Countdown does receive good viewership, it could get renewed for season two as well.

For now, Season 2 is still in the early phase of discussions. Haas is thinking about ideas but is, at the same time, waiting to see how audiences respond. Hence, there's no confirmation for a season two yet.

The first three episodes of Countdown are streaming on Prime Video.
