Will we have a DCU panel at CCXP? Speculations explored

It appears that the DCU (DC Universe) will indeed have a presence at the CCXP Mexico, which is currently underway in Ciudad de México/Mexico City. The convention is being held in Ciudad de México between May 30, 2025, and June 1, 2025. On June 1, 2025, at 07:00 PM GMT, James Gunn and John Cena will have a panel at the CCXP Mexico for Peacemaker Season 2.

This was confirmed by Gunn himself, who is the showrunner of Peacemaker Season 2 and even the co-CEO of DC Studios. But for now, it looks like this CCXP Mexico panel is focused mostly on the upcoming second season of Peacemaker rather than the rest of the DCU.

Will there be any major DCU announcement at CCXP Mexico in the Peacemaker Season 2 panel?

It is currently unclear whether we'll get any important DCU announcements in the CCXP panel or not. This became even more confusing when James Gunn posted this comment on his Threads account when a fan asked him about the possibility of a DC Studios panel in SDCC, this July 2025. Gunn posted the following comment on Monday, May 26, 2025:

"It's just me and John and Peacemaker. Though of course I'll talk about everything."

Fans were happy to learn that James Gunn and Peter Safran's DC Universe finally had some presence in the SDCC after sitting out not one, but two Comic-Cons. However, this comment was contradicted by James Gunn himself on Thursday, May 29, 2025:

"Sorry folks - I was reading too fast and was thinking CCXP. I was responding about Mexico this week."

This has fans believe either that we will learn some DCU news this week at the CCXP Mexico or we will get some small news on Sunday, and more important ones at the SDCC panel. But one thing is assured, though we will learn more about the upcoming DCU series, Peacemaker Season 2.

What is DCU's Peacemaker Season 2 about?

The upcoming season of HBO's Peacemaker will follow Christopher Smith and his team trying to contend with one of the former's worst mistakes, Rick Flag Jr. That's because Frank Grillo's Rick Flag Sr. is hunting down Peacemaker to settle scores with him. Additionally, Gunn had interesting teases to offer in the Entertainment Weekly interview published on May 26, 2025.

Firstly, Gunn said that season 2 of Peacemaker will feature an important DC cameo:

"You've seen what we call the QUC, the Quantum Unfolding Chamber, in the first season of Peacemaker, and we see more about that technology in Superman. The QUC is the center of the story in Peacemaker season 2... We see a lot of different characters from Superman in the [season], [including] Isabela and Nathan and Sean, and then we see a bunch of other characters later on in the season from other parts of the DCU and from Superman. There might even be one really, really, really big cameo near the end of the show."

Furthermore, Gunn explained what Peacemaker Season 2 will be about:

"We come into season 2 with Peacemaker knowing that he saved the world from the Butterflies. He thinks he's a big star now, and he should be a real superhero. And we see at the very beginning of episode 1 that he's meeting with the group of superheroes from Superman, and he's basically interviewing for membership in the group. But they just mock him the entire time, so he's not taken seriously. He's still considered a punchline among all of the other metahumans, so he's starting the season in a bad place."

Furthermore, the Entertainment Weekly story also confirmed that Peacemaker Season 2 will have a presence at the SDCC this July. This has fans hopeful that we will get major DC Universe announcements at that panel.
