Yellowjackets has captivated fans with its engaging storyline, intricate characters, and haunting plot twists. However, one of the main characters under considerable discussion is Jackie, portrayed by Ella Purnell. Her tragic death in season 1 continues to echo through the storylines of the remaining survivors.
A new teaser by Showtime has confirmed that Yellowjackets Season 3 premiere date is February 14, 2025. The snippets capture the teens wandering in the wilderness and are interspersed with a skull's imagery. As though that is not enough, they spot a symbol, and Jackie's heart necklace, hinting at Jackie's return in Yellowjackets Season 3. Jackie's character will certainly be spotted in the show again, it is suspected that Ella Purnell will be the face of Jackie's character.

Jackie's character was the crux of the early group dynamic; she died in season 1, having succumbed to hypothermia. Her presence permeated through flashbacks and hallucinations, specifically on Shauna, played by Melanie Lynskey and Sophie Nélisse. In season 2, Jackie appeared in visions as the psychological depth of Shauna's arc unfolded.
The creative team has used Jackie's presence to explore themes of grief, guilt, and trauma and has given her more than just a memory. Fans predict that season 3 might continue this trend, possibly through the psyche of Shauna or perhaps further exploration of her background in flashbacks.

"Well, we had exactly one day in the #YellowJackets S3 writers' room, It was amazing, and creatively invigorating, and so much fun, and I'm very excited to get back to it as soon as the #WGA gets a fair deal."
Showtime has reportedly assured that Yellowjackets Season 3 is in production and the teaser hints at Jackie returning through her haunting appearances as seen in the previous episodes. Filming supposedly took place in Vancouver as recently as 2024 but was delayed due to the strike by the Writers Guild of America.
With producers Ashley Lyle and Bart Nickerson saying that challenges will come for Yellowjackets survivors, there should indeed be room for the character in the new season as in the case of possible revivals of Jackie in Goodways.
There hasn't been any public commentary from Ella Purnell on her role in Season 3, and no announcement was made officially as regards her casting. Since the show has a history of making use of deceased characters to give psychological depth, there might be a possibility of Jackie's return in non-linear storytelling formats.
