Will the Kyphotic Alien play a role in Peacemaker Season 2? Possibilities explored

Peacemaker Season 2 has been subtly setting up a wider DC multiverse. It does so with the help of the QUC/Quantum Unfolding Chamber. Introduced all the way back in Season 1, which streamed in 2022, the QUC connects to other realities as well, suggesting a multiverse. This hints at a quirky and comic book-inspired DC Universe. Nothing symbolizes the DCU's comic book sensibilities better than the Kyphotic Alien.

The Kyphotic Alien is the alien that Chris meets while strolling inside the QUC. While humans would freak out at the sight of otherworldly life, it should be noted that the DCU is different. As the opening text of Superman suggests, the common folk in the DCU are accustomed to extraordinary beings due to centuries of exposure. As Peacemaker Season 2 takes place in the same continuity, people like Chris are used to alien life forms.

The Kyphotic Alien has appeared twice, once each in two episodes. Many believe that the alien might play a key role in an upcoming episode of the second season. However, the Kyphotic Alien's return has not been confirmed.

The Kyphotic Alien indicates that Peacemaker Season 2 and the entire DCU will embrace a comic book aesthetic

As mentioned earlier, the Kyphotic Alien has physically appeared in season 2 twice. The first time we meet is in the first act of the season 2 premiere, as Chris takes Eagly out for a flight inside the QUC. While searching for Eagly, he accidentally encounters the alien who is seen holding a dead pet. As the alien cremates the said pet. Chris greets the alien, but the latter doesn't react, angering him.

We see the Kyphotic Alien in the second act of Peacemaker Season 2 Episode 2, A Man Is Only as Good as His Bird. This time, Chris and Adrian are burning the former's multiversal counterpart's body. As the body is burning inside the incinerator, the alien walks in only to see a yelling Chris, giving him and Adrian the space.

Therefore, many believe that the second encounter is why some are theorizing that the alien might play a role in Chris's capture by A.R.G.U.S. Regardless of whether the alien comes back or not, we can expect a vibrant and thriving cinematic universe from Peter Safran and James Gunn's DCU.

Gunn even teased a major cameo from a DC character while discussing the QUC in an interview with Entertainment Weekly this May:

"You've seen what we call the QUC, the Quantum Unfolding Chamber, in the first season of Peacemaker, and we see more about that technology in Superman."

He added:

"The QUC is the center of the story in Peacemaker season 2... We see a lot of different characters from Superman in the [season], [including] Isabela and Nathan and Sean, and then we see a bunch of other characters later on in the season from other parts of the DCU and from Superman. There might even be one really, really, really big cameo near the end of the show."
