Leanne starring Leanne Morgan debuted on Netflix on 31 July, 2025.

Produced by Chuck Lorre, known for popular shows like The Big Bang Theory and Two and a Half Men, the show hasn't been renewed for a second season yet. However, there are several reasons to stay cautiously optimistic.

The major one is the involvement of the producer himself. Lorre's track record in the genre brings credibility and a built-in audience, something Netflix certainly pays attention to. Secondly, the renewal decision depends on the viewership metrics, and Netflix would need almost a week to gauge that.

Read on to learn what else we know about a possible Leanne Season 2.

As mentioned, the show hasn't been renewed for a season 2 yet.

However, fans don't need to be disheartened as it has been only a day since the release, and ideally, Netflix takes at least a week's time to gauge the viewership metrics and decide the fate of the show. Moreover, Chuck Lorre, a promising producer, is behind the show. Lorre comes with his own set of audiences; therefore, it is highly likely that the show will be renewed for a new season.

Netflix will not just measure the number of people tuning in to the show within the first week, but also look through its sustained engagement, episode completion rates, and the social media buzz the show has created, before deciding on anything. So, while no announcement has been made yet, if Leanne performs well in the coming weeks, season 2 is possible. But, for now, viewers will have to wait for confirmation.

The official synopsis of the show, as per IMDb, reads,

"A grandmother's life is upended when her husband leaves her after 33 years of marriage. She navigates this new chapter with the help of her family, grace, dignity, and jello salad."

Season 1 debuted with all 16 episodes of around 19 minutes each, dropping at once to binge-watch. The show opens, introducing the protagonist, whose world has been turned upside down when her husband leaves her after 33 years of marriage for another woman.

Leanne eventually begins to explore the chaos with her sister Carol by her side. She discovers strength, laughter, and hope coming her way in a unique form she had never imagined.

In an interview with Fandom Wire, Leanne Morgan herself remarked that there’s a profound vulnerability in opening yourself up again after being abandoned by the person you built your life with.

“It’s not just about meeting someone new,” she said. “It’s about risking the pain of being hurt again.”

However, though the show is resonating, the biggest challenge it faces is finding a sustainable audience. With Chuck Lorre behind the scenes and a strong lead in Leanne Morgan, the show might get renewed if it gets the viewership it needs.
