Will Mayor of Kingstown Season 5 happen? Here's what we know

Paramount+'s Mayor of Kingstown wrapped up season 4 with an exciting finale this week.

The finale left the viewers with several queries, the first one being what's next for the McLusky brothers with their biggest threat gone? What lies ahead for Cortez, Frank Moses, and the others? This leads us to the final question, which is: Is Mayor of Kingstown renewed for Season 5?

Turns out, Paramount+ has not yet confirmed the renewal/cancellation of Mayor of Kingstown Season 5. The viewers have to wait a little longer for the official announcement. Neither the cast nor the makers have teased anything about Season 5 yet.

Could Mayor of Kingstown Season 5 happen?

As of now, there have been no updates about Mayor of Kingstown Season 5 yet. A streaming platform/production house usually takes some time to evaluate the viewership count, production costs, cast's availability, and other metrics before they renew the show for another season.

Mayor of Kingstown has been performing quite well this season. It has bagged 8.1 stars out of 10 on IMDb. The penultimate episode of Season 4 has got 9.4 stars out of 10, making it one of the most highly rated episodes of the series, along with the finale. Season 4 has a whopping 100% critics' score on Rotten Tomatoes, making it the highest-rated season so far. So there's a good chance of its renewal.

However, since Paramount+ has still not released any viewership data yet, we do not have any information about that metric.

But as per Flixpatrol, the show has climbed to the fourth position among the top Paramount+ shows this week. With only South Park, Tulsa King, and Landman ahead of it.

Apart from that, Jeremy Renner, in a panel at Florida Supercon, teased that the show is going to have a 'really cool end'. He said (via Popverse):

"We found a cool end, I’m not going to tell you, but we found a really cool end, I think, to the show.”

So even though there's no confirmation about a Season 5 yet, Renner's comments tease that there's more to the story.

Mayor of Kingstown Season 4 finale: A quick recap

Season 4 begins on a chilling note as Merle Callahan organizes an attack on Mike McLusky. He sent three men in police gear to kill Mike at Don's Diner. However, the plan fails miserably. Kyle was there as Callahan had no idea that Mike was able to get him out of prison. Two men die on the spot, while the third one seems familiar. The third shooter was none other than Billy, the guy who helped Callahan escape in the previous episodes.

Meanwhile, we see Kyle struggling to cope with his wife Tracy's death. He even refuses to meet his child. He now has only one motive: to avenge Tracy's death.

Back at the prison, Nina Hobbs knows that if the lockdown is lifted, things would take an ugly turn. She sends Cindy away and is caught between Bunny and the Colombians. Neither side is willing to come to a peaceful conclusion. Cortez tries to threaten Hobbs, and she's well aware that the cartel has kept an eye on her family, placing her in a tense situation.

On the other hand, Roberto kills Kevin Jackson. Elsewhere, Bunny takes up Mosses' position and orders an attack on the Colombian safehouse. Bunny's men capture Cortez, but he manages to escape.

In the most chilling moment of the finale, Callahan thinks he can save himself by turning himself in, but Captain Walter refuses, and Ian drops him at a rail yard. Kyle moves forward, and Callahan tries to provoke him by constantly mocking Tracy's death. Kyle, now calm and revenge-focused, kills Callahan with his father's revolver. Later, Mike cleans up the spot. Callahan's death brings the McLusky brothers closer, but it also leaves us with queries about the choices they make next.
