Mercy for None brought forward a story filled with themes of revenge, crime, and loyalty. But after its finale, many fans have just one question in their minds: Is there any chance of Mercy for None Season 2 happening?

As of now, Netflix hasn't spoken about going forward with a renewal. With the show being labeled a limited series and most plotlines having been wrapped up, the chances may seem low. Still, there are certain hints that leave room for a small conversation about what could come next.

A powerful end, but is it the final word?

The first season of Mercy for None doesn't leave much breathing room once it concludes.

With Nam Gi-jun's death, the dismantling of major gang factions in Seoul, and all key arcs neatly wrapped, the narrative feels final. His brutal journey of vengeance ends beside a quiet fire, far away from the chaos he caused.

He takes down the Bongsan and Juwoon Groups, confronts every enemy linked to his brother's murder, and dies with that mission complete. The closure is sharp and deliberate, making it hard to imagine a traditional follow-up.

On top of that, Mercy for None was developed from a webtoon called Plaza Wars: Mercy for None, which also follows a single contained story. Most of that source material is already covered in the seven-episode season.

So, structurally and narratively, the show seems to have hit its climax with Season 1. Even Netflix calling it a limited series is a sign that this project was likely meant to be a one-and-done project. Korean dramas often use this model, and it usually means no further seasons being renewed.

Could Mercy For None Season 2 still happen?

Despite the limited series coming to an end, some Korean series have bent the rules before. There have been limited shows that have returned due to fan following or the projects gaining critical acclaim. While it's rare, it's not impossible, and the cards could still be on the table.

If Mercy for None picks up strong numbers or generates buzz, Netflix may reconsider. And if they do, there are creative paths they could take that wouldn't need to undo the first season's finale.

One likely option could be shifting the focus to new characters. Gi-jun's story may be over, but the city he left behind is now leaderless and vulnerable. A power vacuum always draws attention, especially in crime-heavy tales. Geum-son, who inherits the wreckage left behind, could easily take the story forward.

His moral conflict, paired with his connection to the past chaos, opens the door to something fresh. Chun Hae-beom is another name that stands out. He was close to Gi-seok and played a big role in his brother's revenge plan, which gives him enough ground for a future lead role.

There's also room to explore different stories altogether within the same world. The idea of bringing the show back can highlight new gang conflicts, new rivalries, and new motivations. Something that could give the show new life while respecting its original closure.

Mercy for None wrapped up in a way that made a second season seem unlikely. Still, with enough support and imagination, a return isn't completely off the table. Whether the story continues or shifts entirely, only time and audience response will tell what comes next.
