NCIS: Tony & Ziva has easily become one of the most talked-about spinoffs of the year, with fans thrilled to finally see Michael Weatherly and Cote de Pablo back on screen together. The big question now is whether this series will go beyond one season.

"We're just grateful that we got a chance to do it, and the rest is the rest. If we got a chance to do it again, we'd be thrilled..."

"I think we'd be lucky to play these characters for — look, I'll say this: Season 1 was like a dream. It was so much fun to go back and revisit these characters..."

De Pablo emphasized that the project wasn't just about nostalgia but about honoring longtime fans who had been waiting years for closure.

She also credited showrunner John McNamara for shaping the new chapter, pointing out how the stunning European backdrop worked almost like another character in the series.

"Michael and I felt we owed it to the fans. And so we're really happy about this just being able to happen. We manifested it. It came together beautifully."

She explained the above commenting on how the show's visual style gave their story a romantic and cinematic feel.

For de Pablo, the gratitude was evident. She confessed that she still pinches herself at the chance to play Ziva again and hopes that the journey doesn't stop here. Her words suggest that while Season 2 isn't official yet, the cast's enthusiasm could be a major push toward renewal.

Why fans believe Season 2 of NCIS: Tony & Ziva is more than possible

If history is anything to go by, spinoffs under the NCIS umbrella rarely vanish after just one season. That alone has given fans plenty of confidence that NCIS: Tony & Ziva will continue. And with the first season still unfolding on Paramount+, the buzz around the show has only grown stronger week after week.

The finale is not scheduled until late October, meaning that official word on a renewal may not surface until after the season closes. Cote de Pablo, however, has already given fans a reason to stay hopeful.

That openness from one of the leads, along with Michael Weatherly's clear excitement about their reunion, feels like a green light waiting to happen.

The show also has the benefit of endless possibilities for its storylines. With Tony, Ziva, and their daughter in Europe, and with so many old NCIS links that could drop in the form of guest stars, the writers have room to stitch in some nostalgia while placing the characters into new territory.

Crossovers, callbacks, and hanging threads from the series could all make the second season feel even more richer.

While CBS and Paramount + haven't made the decision just yet, everything from fan demand to Cote de Pablo's comments hints at a season 2 for NCIS: Tony & Ziva in the future.

With both de Pablo and Weatherly openly enthusiastic about returning, the chances of Season 2 happening feel higher than ever. For now, fans can keep watching the first season and keep hope that this story is only just beginning.
