Peacemaker Season 2 is expected to take things further into the bizarre, especially with the newly revealed multiverse twist.

Based on official teases and recent trailers, the upcoming season will explore an alternate reality where Peacemaker is seen as a national hero, and, in that reality, appears to be in a relationship with Emilia Harcourt.

Peacemaker Season 2 will reportedly pick up months after the events of season 1, showing Chris Smith dealing with the consequences of killing the Cow, his new unwanted status among metahumans, and a strange device known as the Quantum Unfolding Chamber that kicks off the dimensional mess.

But before diving into alternate versions, fans can’t stop thinking about the unresolved bond between Peacemaker and Harcourt in the original timeline. In Season 1, their relationship was tense, guarded, and occasionally tender. Harcourt never fully opened up, and Peacemaker, despite obvious feelings, struggled to treat her with the seriousness she deserved.

There was that hospital scene where she reaches for his hand after nearly dying, but nothing more is shown. Fans saw the chemistry, but the show deliberately kept things from turning romantic. With Peacemaker Season 2 teasing a “what if” version of them together, let's look back at a Reddit discussion about whether it might finally happen in season 2.

Peacemaker Season 2 romance? Here’s what Reddit thinks about Harcourt

Reddit went back and forth on whether Peacemaker and Harcourt could officially get together in Peacemaker Season 2, and the responses weren’t subtle. In a popular thread on r/PeacemakerShow posted by u/PrinceARRON in 2022, over 2,700 people voted on the question:

“Do you guys think that there’s a slight possibility of Chris & Harcourt hooking up in S2?”

The results were tight, about 1,500 said yes, while 1,200 said no. That pretty much summed up the entire fandom. There was interest, but there was also hesitation, and most of it came down to how Season 1 handled their connection.

The comments on that thread went in every direction. The top comment from a now-deleted account simply said,

“Considering it's the director’s wife, yes,” pointing out that Jennifer Holland, who plays Harcourt, is married to James Gunn.

That dynamic alone has sparked debates about whether her character would naturally get more emotional focus. But others were quick to clarify that Gunn had previously described the relationship as complicated, even saying in an interview that,

“they’re not a love relationship… but they’re not not one either.”

That kind of vague middle ground is exactly what fans latched onto.

A lot of users, like u/homogenic, said they hoped the show wouldn’t force anything romantic. They felt Harcourt worked better as a tough, emotionally guarded field leader who respected Chris but didn’t need to fall for him. One u/PaintedMidget commented,

“Haha I think there's a slight possibility, as the title suggests, but the only option is "definitely" so I will abstain from voting. :P.”
Aother redditor u/sweetstarfleet added, “Chris doesn’t need a love interest, he needs therapy.”

That reaction has been common since Season 1 ended; viewers don’t want Harcourt written as the reward for Peacemaker finally growing up a little.

The Reddit thread also included jokes and side takes. Some suggested Harcourt might end up with Vigilante, especially after that quick jail pickup scene in season 1. Others pitched that maybe Chris would end up with no one, or that they might have a one-night stand but keep it casual.

A few fans went further, saying any hookup between them would probably happen off-screen, or be left implied, especially considering the awkwardness of directing romantic scenes between your spouse and John Cena.

One of the more serious comments came from u/Cockwombles, who said,

“I think they should just be platonic with mutual respect. The reward for not being sexist isn’t a woman to fuck. I’m hoping for a love triangle with Adrian though. But I don’t know if that’s Gunn’s thing.”

That response got traction for calling out how male characters are often “gifted” romantic arcs once they behave like decent humans. Fans seemed unified in not wanting that for Harcourt. They like her as her own person, not just someone to complete Chris.

Overall, Reddit shows that people care about their relationship, but not because they want a kiss. They care because it’s layered, uncomfortable, and hard to define. If Peacemaker Season 2 develops it, fans just want it done with care. No cheesy love arcs. No forced moments. Just something that feels honest. That’s what Reddit is hoping for.
