With Season 2 of the show coming to an end with a cliffhanger, viewers are eager to know if Peacemaker Season 3 will come out soon. According to USA TODAY, HBO Max has not yet confirmed a new season and a representative of the streaming platform also told USA TODAY that they did not have any new information to share currently.

In the final episode, Chris has to come to terms with the repercussions of his dimension-hopping that he did throughout the season. The episode revealed that ARGUS was opening doors in the portal because it wanted to find a dimension like Earth. And the place would then be used to hold metahumans.

Sasha discovers this and goes to Harcourt and wants to stop Flag and Lex Luthor. However, they first want to find Chris, who is unreachable since he got out of prison. After tracking Chris down, Adebao and the gang tell Chris that he is not the “angel of death” and deserves happiness.

Finally, they decide to create a covert agency called Checkmate. However, during the final moments of the show, Chris is kidnapped by ARGUS agents at the behest of Rick Flag Sr.

Chris is sent through the portal to Salvation and the episode ends with Chris stuck in the dimension and unable to get out. Therefore, the end of the season paves the way for a potential Season 3.

While there is no confirmed news about Season 3, creator James Gunn has talked about how the finale of the second season of the show will be important for the upcoming movie, Man of Tomorrow. Gunn stated:

“Episode 8 [of Peacemaker] is important to Man of Tomorrow as anything.”

In an interview with ComicBook, Gunn was asked about Peacemaker appearing in the movies and the creator mentioned that he knew the answer but cannot delve into the details. This has led ComicBook to speculate that the jingoistic hero will soon be seen in a movie, even before another season of the show comes around.

In the finale of Season 2, the agency of Checkmate is created, which will play a major role in the DC Universe in the future. Therefore, it is likely that the agency and Salvation will appear in Man of Tomorrow. Further, Lex Luthor will be seen in the movie and his character was also working with Rick Flag Sr. in the Salvation initiative.

Therefore, according to ComicBook, there are many characters and plot points in the finale of Season 2 which will likely be seen in the upcoming movie, before a third season comes around.
