Will Sarah Paulson play the infamous serial killer Aileen Wuornos in Monster Season 4? Speculations explored

After three successful seasons, Netflix's crime drama, created by Ryan Murphy and Ian Brennan, is already in production for Season 4. Monster Season 4 is set to narrate the story of Lizzie Borden, played by Ella Beatty, who was charged with the axe murder of her father and stepmother in 1892. Although she was later acquitted, her story has become a tale of fascination among the masses and is part of pop culture lore.

According to Variety, Sarah Paulson may be the latest addition to the series. Although not announced yet by Netflix, Paulson is in talks to play the role of serial killer Aileen Wuornos. Since the show will feature Lizzie Borden's story, it is speculated that Season 4 of the crime drama series will follow the path of Season 3. Wuornos was convicted and executed in 2002 for killing seven men.

Like it showed the impact of Ed Gein's story in pop culture and the film industry, and also numerous other serial killers such as Ted Bundy and mass murderer Richard Speck, Monster Season 4 might show how Borden's story impacted or is connected to various other female killers. Wuornos is among the most popular serial killers whose story has been covered numerous times for the screen and also in books. The most popular depiction of the female serial killer was in 2003 when Charlize Theron played the Wuornos's role and won an Oscar.

As the Emmy-winning actress joins the series, she will be part of a star-studded cast, such as Hunnam, who previously played Ed Gein in Monster Season 3, and will play Andrew Jackson Borden, Lizzie's father, in the upcoming season. Hall will appear as Abby, Lizzie's stepmother, and Billie Lourd will play Emma, Lizzie's sister. Other cast members include Vicky Krieps, who will play the Borden's maid, Bridget Sullivan, and Jessica Barden will appear as Lizzie's friend, Nance O’Neill.

A premiere date for Monster Season 4 has not been announced yet, but it is expected to be released in 2026.

Along with Netflix's Monster, Sarah Paulson will make a return to the Murphy-helmed horror Universe as she will also be in the 13th season of American Horror Story, which will also bring back many of the beloved OG cast of the horror series.
