The Better Sister has kept the audience hooked with its fascinating story of a family that is hiding some dark secrets. Sisters Chloe and Nicky, who have been estranged for years, reunite after the former’s husband, Adam, dies.

But Nicky herself had a connection with Adam that complicates the matter. Prime Video dropped all eight episodes of the series on May 29, 2025. Audiences who have binged the show are now wondering if and when there will be The Better Sister Season 2.

The renewal status and possibility of The Better Sister Season 2

The Better Sister Season 2 has not been confirmed by Prime Video as of now. The show might not get renewed as it has been promoted as a limited series. It is based on Alafair Burke's eponymous novel, with the entire story of the book being covered in Season 1’s narrative.

However, there have been instances in the past where limited series have been continued for multiple seasons. Some examples are HBO’s The White Lotus and Netflix’s Beef. Another show based on a novel, 13 Reasons Why, was initially conceived as a miniseries but later went on for four seasons.

Even Prime Video’s Good Omens, which is an adaptation of Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaiman’s fantasy comedy novel, is confirmed to get a third season. All these shows had one thing in common: they were received well by the audience and had massive viewership.

Hence, The Better Sister Season 2’s fate ultimately depends on the first season’s ratings and performance. Prime Video will analyze the response to the show in the upcoming days, and if it generates enough revenue for the platform, the streamer might consider it an important asset and decide to renew it for a second season.

What would The Better Sister Season 2 be about?

A potential second season of The Better Sister will move past the story written by Alafair Burke. Hence, series creators Olivia Milch and Regina Corrado will have to come up with an original storyline to continue the narrative.

Most of the major plot points were resolved in Season 1 itself, as the identity of the killer was revealed and Chloe and Nicky’s complicated relationship was explored in depth. If the show gets renewed for a Season 2, we might get to see how Chloe and Nicky deal with the fear of being caught after having covered up their crimes.

Meanwhile, they might not be able to keep Olivero at bay for a long time, as the FBI agent is already suspicious of Nicky being the killer. The show also needs to answer how Jake Rodriguez died. All these plot points will make up for an interesting Season 2.

If the show returns with the same cast, Jessica Biel and Elizabeth Banks are expected to reprise their roles as Chloe and Nicky, respectively. Maxwell Acee Donovan would also return as Ethan.
