Greg Nicotero's spooky world has finally said farewell to horror genre fans as Creepshow officially wraps after four seasons on Shudder. The 2019 anthology series was based on Stephen King & George A. Romero's 1982 eponymous film, which was also further adapted into the 1987 and 2006 films, respectively.
The Shudder horror anthology series released a total of 23 episodes across four seasons, and two additional Halloween and Christmas Specials in 2020. Fans eagerly waiting for Creepshow Season 5 are in for huge disappointment, as the beloved series will not return for more spooky tales.
The series featured two horror stories in each episode, from the chilling pages of authors like King, Joe Hill, and Heather Anne Campbell. Across four seasons, the series brought many chilling original and adapted short stories to life. Nicotero's series follows a creep, showing its audience members spine-chilling and eerie tales from the titular comic books (like the original film), featuring ghosts, demons, witches, and zombies.
The episodes also featured occasional horror product advertisements from the comic books.

Shudder officially wraps Creepshow after four seasons
While this is certainly a blow for all horror genre fans, a Variety report suggests that Creepshow was initially intended as a four-season project on Shudder. This also suggests that this beloved anthology series was not dramatically canceled, but completed its memorable time on the small screen.
The series released Season 4 (now the final season) in October 2023, and there was no further news about the future of the show. However, the recent report confirms that the anthology series took its final bow with Season 4 and will not return with a new season.
Certainly hard news for Stephen King's fans, but the anthology series has a high rewatchability and does not even require a prescribed chronology. You can tune into any random episode and get transported to a world of horror, demons, and zombies. Additionally, to celebrate the official completion of the series and to cushion the blow, a Blu-Ray box set of the complete series will also be released on November 1, 2025. Titled Creepshow Complete Series, this box set will include all four seasons and the two specials, released on Shudder.
Homage to the classic horror genre

While Shudder's horror anthology series completed its intended run, fans would have loved to see more episodes from the spooky pages of short story fiction. The anthology format of the show allowed the creators to adapt two stories per episode, without disturbing their flow. The format also ensured that Creepshow did not leave any loose plot points in its wake, as each story/episode was largely self-contained.
Nicotero, who is also a special effects master and has directed 37 episodes of AMC's The Walking Dead, has expressed his fondness for the original film and the comic book horror in many interviews. He said how the series aptly 'embraces the true spirit of horror' and pays homage to the classic horror genre. Many episodes of Creepshow evoke early memories of reading horror comic books from the 1950s, like Tales from the Crypt, The Vault of Horror, and The Haunt of Fear.
Additionally, the Shudder series also introduced Stephen King and many of his fellow horror authors' works to a modern generation.
Some of the authors featured in various episodes of Creepshow include Joe Hill (By the Silver Water of Lake Champlain), John Skipp & Dori Miller (Times Is Tough in Musky Holler), A.J. Konrath (Shapeshifters Anonymous), William Butler (To Grandmother's House We Go), and many more.
The complete anthology series is available to stream on Shudder.
