James Gunn's Creature Commandos featured a Batman cameo in their latest episode, who defeated the mighty Doctor Phosphorus.
The adult animated series is among the main projects that will make up the first chapter of Gunn's franchise "Gods and Monsters,'' and it is now confirmed that the Caped Crusader is a part of this universe.
And since Creature Commandos follows the origin stories of many iconic monsters, fans wonder whether they will see the origin stories of the superhero.
But according to Gunn's recent interview, especially with RT, he has no plans to tell the origin tale of the superhero, as he is already an established character and well-known by the fans.

James Gunn's DCU will not have a Batman origin story. Exploring the superhero's cameo in Creature Commandos
DCU fans already know that Gunn is working on a solo Batman movie, and he treated them with a Superhero cameo in Creature Commandos. While the superhero does not appear fully and is visible in only a few frames, the iconic silhouette is hard to miss.
This cameo made fans curious whether we will get a Batman origin story, but Gunn's recent interview with Rotten Tomatoes suggests that he is not keen on showing the superhero's origin story because he is already a known figure and even non-readers of the comics know his origin story. In an interview with RT, Gunn revealed,
“We don’t need to hear the origin story again. That’s just a way to introduce that Batman is a part of this universe. He’s an important part of this universe, and he has an impact on it, including defeating such pretty dangerous, scary people like Phosphorus.”
Gunn also revealed how there was more of the superhero in the episode initially, but he 'was not ready to commit to that.’ Instead, he opted for a silhouette to introduce the superhero in this universe.
He also revealed that he has already existed in this universe, which is why there is no need to dwell on his origin story. But, we might see him in such cameos in other projects, maybe with DCU's Superman, till he debuts fully in his movie.
Fans might have to wait to see DCU's Batman in The Brave and the Bold
While fans were greeted with animated Batman in Creature Commandos, there might be some wait before they see DCU's superhero debut in The Brave and the Bold, as director Andy Muschietti shared that he will direct another movie before working on the superhero's debut.
The Brave and the Bold was announced in January 2023 as an inspiration from writer Grant Morrison and artist Andy Kubert's 2006 comic arc, which features the superhero with his son.
The movie follows the storyline of Bruce Wayne and his son, where Wayne learns that he has a son named Damian with Talia al Ghul, the daughter of his nemesis, Ra's al Ghul. While the movie marks the superhero's debut in live-action for DCU, fans might have to wait some time to see who their new caped crusader is.
