Since HBO announced the Harry Potter TV Reboot, fans have debated the casting passionately. J.K. Rowling's beloved fantasy books, which were adapted into eight successful movies, will now get a small-screen adaptation with new faces.
The shoes to fill are significant because the Harry Potter movies have a large fanbase, and they are enjoyed even by people who have not even read the books. Actors Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint, and Emma Watson, who played Harry, Ron, and Hermione, respectively, in the movies, are to date most famously known for their characters.
Fans secretly wish for their return as professors or in any role in the Harry Potter TV reboot.
However, in a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, HBO executive Sarah Aubrey revealed that the TV reboot will likely not include faces from the movies, as they aim to introduce fresh talent.

HBO EP opens up on Harry Potter TV Reboot casting
When asked if fans could expect to see any familiar faces in the TV reboot, Aubrey noted (via The Hollywood Reporter):
''So, it’s been very, very fun, but we don’t want to repeat people that were in the movies. And it’s always a little nerve-wracking because people so associate those roles with certain actors, but I also think because it’s going to be eight hours of TV, we’re going to immerse them in a different actor’s performance.''
While fans might want to see their favorite actors from movies return, the makers of the reboot seem intent on creating a fresh legacy.
Recent casting news for Harry Potter TV Reboot
Since HBO announced the Harry Potter TV reboot, there have been rumors about who could play the characters, and many actors' names have made headlines.
It was earlier confirmed that the leads will be newcomers. The production has also made a casting call for actors between the ages of 12 and 13 to audition for the role.
Talking about the casting process, Aubrey notes:
''Yeah, I think it’s a dream job for a lot of actors in the U.K. But the roles that we’re casting right now are for people who are going to be on the show for a decade, so that’s also a very particular gig. But the commitment is to make the books, and that’s what it could be. But there are interesting people raising their hands to be the featured adult actors that come on in later seasons, like the Sirius Blacks of the world.''
British actor John Lithgow recently confirmed that he will play Professor Albus Dumbledore in the Harry Potter TV Reboot. The beloved Hogwarts Headmaster is a key character in the books and was played by actors Richard Harris and Michael Gambon in the movies.
