Will there be a Sherlock & Daughter Season 2? Possibilities explored

Sherlock & Daughter premiered on The CW on April 16, 2025. Consisting of 8 episodes, the first season finale dropped on June 11, 2025. The official synopsis of the show, as per Rotten Tomatoes, mentions the following:

“Sherlock Holmes is out of his comfort zone, mysteriously unable to investigate a sinister case without risking the lives of his closest friends. Then enters young American Amelia. After her mother's mysterious murder, she learns her missing father may be the legendary detective. Despite wildly different backgrounds and attitudes, the pair must work together to solve a global conspiracy, crack her mother's murder and find out for sure if she really is Sherlock's daughter.”

With Sherlock & Daughter Season 1 coming to an end, fans are now naturally curious to know about the renewal status of the show and if it will be coming back for another season. However, as of now, the network has neither confirmed nor denied the possibility of a Sherlock & Daughter Season 2.

There is no official update regarding the renewal or cancellation of Sherlock & Daughter

As mentioned previously, the fate of Sherlock & Daughter is still unknown since there has been no official confirmation from The CW about the series coming back for another season. Simultaneously, there is no news about its cancellation either, which means there is a 50-50 possibility of the show being renewed.

While in a lot of cases the renewal announcement of a show is made while one season is mid-air, some shows also get renewed after a season is finished. If that happens to be the case with this show, it is a little too early to comment on the possibility of its second season, since the first one just ended.

Moreover, there are a number of factors that a network considers before going ahead with green-lighting another season of a particular show. Viewership numbers, audience and critics ratings often serve as the parameters that a show’s renewability is judged upon. Fortunately, for Sherlock & Daughter, none of these are low as it is currently the fifth most popular show on The CW, as mentioned by USTVDB.

USTVDB further mentions that as of early June, the show has been watched by some 558,000 people. The Rotten Tomatoes score is also not bad for the show as it has gotten 75% as the critics’ score and 88% as the audiences’.

With creator Brendan Foley also not making many public statements about the chances of renewal of the show, waiting is the only option for fans right now.
