AMC's horror fiction Talamasca: The Secret Order wrapped up Season 1 on a thrilling note. The finale episode left the viewers on several cliffhangers, including a crucial one about Guy's mother, Anna. It left the viewers with more questions than answers. However, AMC has neither renewed nor cancelled Talamasca: The Secret Order for Season 2 as of now.

The finale showed Guy and Doris on a ferry after Helen sacrificed and turned herself in, only to let them escape. Amidst all the chaos, we also get a hint that Guy and Doris are being watched. Is this Houseman (the high-ranking agent of Amsterdam HQ who asked Jasper to turn a room full of dead bodies into vampires), or just one of his agents? And why are they following the duo? The finale also leaves us with another alarming question: What does Doris know about Guy's mother? And will she really help Guy to locate his mother? The finale also teases a new dynamic, Helen and Detective Ridge.

The finale finally unravels the mystery behind the “752.” It isn’t a book, a relic, or even a location; it’s Doris herself. The Talamasca transformed her into a living archive, exploiting her memory and later turning her into a vampire to preserve that knowledge indefinitely. In a shocking twist, we also learn that Doris is actually Emma, Helen’s long-lost twin sister.

Will Talamasca: The Secret Order Season 2 happen?

As of now, the status for the renewal or cancellation of Talamasca: The Secret Agent remains unknown. AMC has not officially updated on the future of the series. However, there are significant chances of its renewal, and the possibilities of its cancellation are thus slim. Why? Firstly, the finale has left the viewers on a thrilling cliffhanger. If the network and the showrunners had previously decided on just one season, they could have addressed all the loose ends in the finale episode (although it would have been way too rushed). Only six episodes for a series like Talamasca, which is tied to Anne Rice's Immortal Universe, doesn't seem too convincing.

Secondly, the showrunners, John Lee and Mark Lafferty, have teased the hope of a potential Season 2. Even though they have not directly addressed the query, they have spoken candidly about the character's future. Speaking to TVLine, when asked about Guy and Doris' plan, Hancock said,

"There's a world of opportunity there, and we're excited for the possibility to be able to tell it. We've got lots of ideas. We really hope that we get to continue telling the story. Those two characters, Guy and Doris, and actors, Celine Buckens and Nicholas Denton, are just so wonderful together. It would be any writer's dream to keep writing for those two and for all of our characters."

Thirdly, Nicholas Denton, who plays Guy in Talamasca: The Secret Order, was also hopeful for a Season 2. Speaking with TVline, he added,

"The first season’s really interesting because you’ve got to start. You’re setting up a new world, new lore, new characters, you’re building them up, and you want to set them free, let ’em go nuts on the world. And that’s what I’m hoping for. There’s a lot to unpack between Guy and Doris in the season’s final episodes and beyond. Also, a lot for Helen, a lot for Jasper.”

In the end, a show's renewal or cancellation depends on its production costs, budgets, cast availability, and most importantly, the viewership statistics. On IMDb, Talamasca: The Secret Order has a solid 6.5-star rating, while on Rotten Tomatoes, it's 64%.
