Tempest on Disney+ is the picture-perfect blend of drama, suspense and action. With a triumphant Season 1, fans have been wondering if there will be a Tempest Season 2? Currently, the streaming platform has not renewed the hit K-drama series. The show has been receiving positive response from both critics and fans alike. Therefore, a renewal will be more than welcome.

Tempest revolves around diplomat and former UN ambassador, Seo Mun Ju (played by Jun Ji-hyun), who is investigating the assassination of her politician husband. However, the trail unveils many dangerous players from world politics, who are entangled in shocking conspiracy. As she unearths political secrets, she will team up with the mysterious mercenary Baek San Ho (played by Gang Dong-won).

The spy thriller is written by Jeon Seo-Kyeong and directed by Kim Hee won and Heo Myung-Haeng. The series, which premiered on September 10, 2025, comprises 9 episodes. The cast of the show includes Oh Jung-Se, Yoo Jae-myung, John Cho, Lee Mi-sook, Park Hae-joon, and Kim Hae-sook. The final two episodes of the series is slated to air on October 1, 2025, on Disney +.

Will Tempest get a second season?

While the series has made its presence felt with roaring reviews, there has been no update regarding Tempest Season 2. As the convention goes, a series is normally reviewed after the viewership numbers are revealed along with the reviews. The official viewership is yet to be unveiled, leaving the fans wondering about the future of the series.

It is to be noted that most K-dramas never get a second season and are often regarded as limited series. There have been a few series with more than one seasons, such as Weak Hero, Welcome to Waikiki, Yumi’s Cells, Squid Game and Hospital Playlist. It remains to be seen if Tempest Season 2 will find its wings.

Tempest Season 1 currently holds 100 per cent critics rating on Rotten Tomatoes. Joel Keller of Decider wrote,

“With an excellent international cast and a potentially twisty espionage story, Tempest definitely shows potential in its first episode.”

While Samuel R. Murrian of Collider said,

“If you've never watched a K-drama and are curious to dip a toe into the genre, it's hard to imagine a more perfect place to start than this.”
