In the television series The Flash, Barry Allen is a man who gains incredible speed due to an accident and becomes known as The Flash, a superhero who fights crime. The unique show aired nine seasons, running from 2014 to 2023. Geoff Johns, Andrew Kreisberg, and Greg Berlanti created it, and The CW network aired it.

Barry uses all his skills to fight criminals and others with unusual abilities in Central City and the series is part of the Arrowverse, a collection of interconnected superhero television shows. Barry Allen is played by Grant Gustin. Both viewers and critics had praised the series and it was mostly produced in Vancouver.

The Arrowverse is unlikely to return, according to The Flash star Carlos Valdes. In an interview with People on May 22, 2025, he stated that, while he appreciates his time as Cisco Ramón, he has no ambitions to return the role, indicating that the Arrowverse is currently a closed chapter.

“I love it, I'm grateful for it,” he said. “Do I want to go back to it? Not really.”

A network of television series based on characters from DC Comics is called the Arrowverse and it majorly started with Arrow in 2012 and has since grown to include Batwoman, The Flash (2014), and more.

These series frequently overlapped during exceptional events, sharing characters and plots and with the release of The Flash's final season in 2023, the Arrowverse finally came to an end after more than a decade of popularity.

Carlos Valdes, who plays Cisco Ramón on The Flash, talked about the prospect of playing the role again or going back to the Arrowverse in an interview with People magazine. Valdes said that while he is grateful for his time in the Arrowverse, he does not want to play Cisco again:

"It would be fun to revisit that because I’ve spent enough time away from it, for sure. At the same time, it's kind of like looking at naked baby photos. You're looking at the thing and you're like, ‘Wow, that was a long time ago,’ and that was that, for all of its joys and drawbacks, warts and all, and it was fun. But that was back then and this is now."

Valdes thought his experience was fun and worthwhile, but he wants to grow in both his career and personal life.

His comments suggest that a return to the Arrowverse is unlikely, at least for his character. This matches the broader view that the franchise has reached a natural conclusion. The shows wrapped up their stories and gave proper farewells to the characters. Additionally, recent DC projects, including the new The Flash movie, have chosen to focus on new storylines separate from the Arrowverse.

Although the Arrowverse is no longer in existence, its influence on superhero television endures, and some characters may reappear in future DC projects.
