Created by Katherine Jakeways, The Buccaneers, is a historical drama series that is based on a novel of the same name by Edith Wharton. The show is set during the 1870s, a time that is known as the Gilded Age and focuses on the experiences of five wealthy American women, who experience London high society and deal with culture clashes and love and traditions.

The second season of the much-loved show ended on August 6, 2025 and die-hard fans of the period drama are already ready for the next installment of The Buccaneers. The second season was filled with love triangles, coming-of-age drama, and many secrets being revealed at Nan’s masquerade ball. Therefore, fans can’t get enough of the show and want Season 3 already. Here’s what we know about Season 3 so far.

Currently, the streaming platform for the show, Apple TV+, has not dropped any word on whether the show will return for a third season. However, Apple always renews shows that have a solid audience and the period drama is much-loved. Therefore, there is a good chance that Season 3 will see the light of the day, especially after the explosive Season 2 finale.

While it’s difficult to predict when the 3rd season of the show will be released as there is no renewal announcement yet. However, according to Marie Claire, past practice showcases that the first season concluded in December 2023 and the second season premiered in June 2025, therefore, the third season could hit the screen by 2027.

Further, Season 3 will most probably see most of the same cast returning with Kristine Frøseth, Alisha Boe, Aubri Ibrag, Imogen Waterhouse, and others, coming back to the screens and playing their iconic characters.

The storyline of The Buccaneers Season 3

The events of The Duchess’s Masquerade set up a lot of important and dramatic events that will be pursued in the next season of the series. Firstly, the ball set up a fight for Tintagel. Secondly, after Theo decides to abdicate and divorce Nan, Blanche reveals that her father had a secret son and that Theo’s half-brother Kit will be the Duke of Tintagel. The character of Kit is arrogant, therefore, his role will be important and interesting in the next season. Even the Nan-Theo-Lizzy love triangle is unresolved as Nan is pregnant and Theo does not know. Therefore, it will be an interesting focal point in the show.
