Will The Dead Girls Season 2 happen? Possibilities explored

The Dead Girls, the limited crime series on Netflix, follows the story of the Baladro sisters who run a thriving brothel business. But after several young women start dying, the sisters draw the attention of the police and get entangled in one of the more shocking scandals in Mexico.

The series, premiered on Netflix on September 10, 2025, with 6 intense episodes. Though the series garnered praise for its storytelling and performance, the streaming platform has neither cancelled nor renewed the show for Season 2 yet.

The Dead Girls is based on Jorge Ibargüengoitia’s well known 1977 novel Las Muertas. It tells the true story of the Las Poquianchis, which was one of the more scandalous stories that ruled the news cycle of Mexico in 1964. The cast for the Netflix series includes Arcelia Ramírez, Alfonso Herrera, Paulina Gaitán, Mauricio Isaac and Joaquín Cosío.

Will The Dead Girls Season 2 happen?

The Dead Girls is set in 1960’s Mexico backdrop, where sisters Arcángela and Serafina Baladro decide to start a brothel by forcing young girls to become sex workers. They had the perfect plan in place, with even the authorities turning a blind eye to the operations, thanks to the lucrative bribes.

However, things take a turn for the worse when several girls start dying in various incidents, compelling them to dispose the bodies discreetly. As much as they try to cover up, the situation gets out of hand when the police are forced to step in and investigate the violent crimes, leading to some startling revelations about the business.

The Dead Girls currently has a 100% Rotten Tomatoes critics rating, with Joel Keller of Decider stating,

“The Dead Girls moves a little slowly, but the performances and subject matter are definitely interesting enough to keep us watching.”

The Dead Girls Season 1 comprises six episodes, which premiered all together. While the series has received positive reception, there has been no update on any extra episode or the renewal of the series.
