Will Trent Season 3 came to an end with episode 18, titled, Listening to a Heartbeat. In episode 17, the possibility of a bioterror attack was established and this episode carries that story forward while also putting the fates of several major characters in jeopardy. This episode also sees GBI and APD coming together to fight Founders Front, the domestic terrorist group behind the attack.
Since Will Trent has already been renewed for the next season, the cliffhanger where season 3 ends is not really surprising and only means that fans have to wait till Will Trent Season 4 hits the screens.
As the wait for the next season begins, let us now explore what happened in Will Trent Season 3 Episode 18.
The following article contains spoilers.
Will and his team fight the terrorists in Will Trent Season 3 finale
The main storyline of Will Trent Season 3 finale was how the GBI and APD will fight and stop the terrorists from reaching their goals. The team realizes that they will need to transfer an antitoxin to the hospital to prevent mass casualties. Ormewood also happens to be captive at the hospital but he somehow manages to get out and get back to his team to help with the antitoxin transfer.
As Ormewood along with Lincoln and Faith are on their way, they get attacked by the terrorists. However, with the help of a group of girls from an archery team who happen to be nearby, the team is able to put the terrorists off. Will also appears at the last minute there and stops a terrorist from shooting Ormewood.
Thankfully, the antitoxin reaches the hospital successfully. However, the terrorists also attack the GBI and Amanda is held as a hostage. While Angie does her best to save Amanda and together they almost make it, eventually Amanda has to take a bullet to save Angie.
She is rushed to the hospital. While it’s revealed that her surgery is complete, it’s not yet shown whether she has regained consciousness. Therefore, Amanda’s future is something that hangs on a cliffhanger as of now. If her character is killed, it is bound to bring major changes in Will’s life because he sees Amanda as family and given how he has already suffered so much, coping with her death would be another deeply painful ordeal for him.
Will and Angie both go through major personal developments in Will Trent Season 3 finale
Besides the intense terrorist storyline, Will Trent Season 3 finale also focuses on the personal life of some of its major characters. It was revealed in the previous episode that Angie was pregnant with Seth’s child and while she was not sure about what she would do about the baby, in this episode it is shown that she decides to keep it.
Given the kind of life-death situation Angie goes through in this episode, it only gives her clarity about what she wants. While it might be heartbreaking for Will to see her move on with her life with Seth, this marks a positive change in her life given how badly she was spiraling since her abusive mother’s death.
The previous episode also revealed Sheriff Caleb to be Will’s biological father. Will was naturally shocked by the revelation. Given his traumatic childhood, he wasn’t initially interested in getting to know his biological father.
Caleb however, seemed keen to know his son and made conscious efforts to bond with Will and somewhat succeeds as well when he tells Will about his mother Lucy and how he genuinely loved her but never got a chance to have a future with her.
Will Trent can be streamed on Hulu.
