Stanley Tucci's docuseries' Searching for Italy had a home at CNN for years until the show was canceled in December 2022, which is when National Geographic stepped in with their unbridled support and freedom for Stanley Tucci to slow down and actually deeply explore Italy and its culture through Tucci In Italy and lesser-known stories of the region, which he will continue to do in the second season of the show.

Stanley Tucci does an exceptional job in the first season, as he explores the climate and the immigration culture that has shaped much of Italy's culture and diversity. Tucci managed to do all these things in the first season of Tucci in Italy. Luckily, he's coming back for another season at National Geographic. In a conversation with Town & Country Magazine, Tucci talked about his experience of changing his networks:

"Nat Geo has more experience making documentaries of this kind. They were really great. You can only try to make something deeper. If you try to make it better, you'll fail. My hope is that we've made it deeper, expanded it visually, and brought those beautiful and interesting stories to life."

He goes to Lombardy in the first episode and completely skips Milan. Instead, he focuses on roadside restaurants, their history, and the core of Italian culture. Tucci also talks about what he wanted to do with the show:

"I knew there was this amazing diversity of food and culture in Italy, but I never really saw it in cooking shows. Certain chefs were doing it in cookbooks, but you didn't see it much in cooking or travel shows. They focused on all the same things: the Colosseum, the David, Venice, Naples—or it was always about gangsters or something like that. With the show, I wanted to show the diversity of the people, the topography, the politics—all through the prism of food. This is a further exploration of those things."

It will be exceptional to witness another season of Tucci in Italy as he meets local chefs, farmers, historians, artisans, and winemakers and takes us along on the ride.

Tucci in Italy was initially handed a 10-episode deal when it was commissioned, out of which five have made their way into Season 1, and the other five are set to make up Season 2.
