Peacock has not yet confirmed Twisted Metal Season 3 as of today. Still, showrunner Michael Jonathan Smith has openly discussed plans in an interview with The Direct, hinting that Calypso’s mysterious past could become central to the next chapter.
Season 2 closed with several unresolved threads, including a striking final image of Calypso (Anthony Carrigan) climbing out of a well. Smith explained that this was never meant to be just a visual flourish but rather a deliberate signal that more of Calypso’s story remains untold.
“The definite idea is Season 3, we want to dive deeper, for sure… in the finale, it was really important to say we are 100% confirming there is more to this guy,” Smith said.
He added that the “well imagery” had been an early idea tied to Calypso’s strange abilities, something the writers held back to develop later.
Calypso’s origins are suggested by the well scene in Twisted Metal Season 3

The well in the final episode of Twisted Metal Season 3 was more than a prop. Smith and the production team used that image to hint at something unusual about Calypso. He added,
“I think the idea of him climbing out of a well was imagery that was just so powerful to us that we actually went back in when we started shooting the prom scene… And I think it was just really fun to keep referencing that imagery and have everything kind of tie into that.”
Michael Jonathan Smith also stated,
“So I think it's really, we didn't want to show a lot of it. We just wanted to tease it, because we just want to, like, in the finale, it was really important to say we are 100% confirming there is more to this guy.”
That tease suggests Season 3 could explore not only how Calypso manipulates the deadly tournament but also the limits of his control.
Sweet Tooth’s route moves the story to the Eastern Sovereignty

Twisted Metal Season 2 ends with Sweet Tooth still alive and being taken toward a place called the Eastern Sovereignty, where his father, Pope Charlie Kane, waits. That direction brings new geography into the story and puts a different kind of pressure on Sweet Tooth.
Smith said,
“We’ve never gone to the East Coast… the Eastern Sovereignty, as I like to call it. The world-building of that is really exciting to me. Especially this idea of Pope Charlie Kane, who has taken it over.”
Moving the plot to this region would let the writers focus on family ties, rival powers, and how other survivors fit into a larger political scene. It also gives the show a way to bring in new characters and conflicts without repeating earlier material.
More Stories Beyond Twisted Metal Season 3

Smith has also hinted that plans stretch beyond a single season. He told The Direct,
“There are story strands that would lead to payoffs if the show is renewed”
Pointing to ideas that could connect past events with new alliances and conflicts. Members of the cast have expressed hopes for their own characters, too.
Tiana Okoye (Dollface) said she was excited by the chance to explore her character as Minion and her evolving relationship with Calypso. Mike Mitchell (Stu) joked that he’d like Season 3 to open with “Rocket Man” as Stu drifts back from space, while Saylor Bell Curda (Mayhem) shared her wish to explore her character’s backstory in more depth.
If Twisted Metal returns, Calypso’s full story is likely to be an element the writer addresses. The well image, comments from the showrunner, and the move toward the Eastern Sovereignty point to a season that would both explain parts of Calypso’s past and expand the world around other characters like Sweet Tooth.
Until Peacock confirms a renewal, these intentions remain plans rather than facts. Fans who want answers will need to wait for official news about a Twisted Metal Season 3.
