Untamed opens with a body falling hundreds of feet during a climb on Yosemite’s El Capitan. What looks like an accident turns into something more complicated once ISB agent Kyle Turner, played by Eric Bana, starts asking questions.

Over six episodes, he uncovers the story of Lucy Cook—a girl who disappeared years ago, returned to the park under a new identity, got pulled into a drug racket running through abandoned mining tunnels, and ultimately died under confusing circumstances.

Untamed focuses on Kyle’s investigation while slowly unpacking his own past. He’s haunted by the murder of his young son and the crumbling of his marriage. His partner, Naya Vasquez, is new to the job and trying to find her footing while tracking clues in unfamiliar terrain. Together, they uncover who Lucy really was, who killed her, and how it connects to deeper problems within Yosemite.

By the final episode of Untamed, the mystery is solved, Paul Souter’s secrets are out, and Kyle decides to leave the park for good. While the story ends cleanly, the final scene—Kyle driving off—opens the door to more cases. So, will there be an Untamed Season 2? Here's everything we know so far about what might come next.

As of now, Netflix has not renewed Untamed for Season 2. It’s still considered a limited series, but the creators have expressed interest in continuing if given the chance.

Netflix hasn’t renewed Untamed for Season 2 yet, but that hasn’t stopped the cast and creators from leaving the door wide open. Just about everyone involved has hinted that more episodes could happen under the right circumstances, even though the show was originally billed as a limited series.

In an interview with TV Insider published July 18, Eric Bana, who plays ISB Special Agent Kyle Turner, said he hasn’t really thought much about a second season because the first one was so demanding. But he added something important: ISB agents move from park to park, which was baked into the story structure. That makes it possible to drop Kyle into a completely new location with a fresh case if Netflix gives the green light.

Co-showrunner Elle Smith sounded even more enthusiastic.

In the same interview, she said, “We would do this forever if they let us.”

She explained that ISB agents take on cases in different national parks, and that’s exactly what makes the show expandable. If Season 2 happens, it would follow Kyle solving a new mystery at another park, with different characters, and probably a different emotional arc.

Lily Santiago, who plays Ranger Naya Vasquez, also told TV Insider she’s ready for more.

“I 100% would do another season. I am hoping for it.”

She said she’d love to see Naya take on more responsibility, grow as a detective, and maybe even investigate murders in new locations. She joked about wanting to be sent to “a mountain in Hawaii,” but the underlying message was clear, she wants to keep going.

Even Wilson Bethel, whose character Shane Maguire was killed off, had fun speculating.

“You never know. Maybe the ghost of old Shane Maguire comes back to haunt folks. Who knows?”

Such statements reflect how invested the cast is in the show’s future, even if they can't be part of it.

Since Untamed premiered as a six-episode limited series on July 17, 2025, Netflix is likely monitoring performance data before making a decision. This is standard for Netflix, which has reversed similar “limited” designations before, like it did with Monster and The Watcher.

So is Season 2 likely? No one’s making promises, but there’s genuine interest from the cast and crew. The show’s structure, having introduced the concept of rotating ISB assignments, makes it easy to pick up where it left off, just in a different place with a different crime. If Untamed charts well, don’t be surprised if Netflix changes its mind. For now, the wait begins.
