Upload Season 4 has arrived on Prime Video after a wait of two years. All episodes of the season dropped on the platform on August 25, 2025, and fans are now wondering whether and when there will be a fifth season of the sci-fi comedy drama.
The show debuted in May 2020 and has earned a huge fan following in the last five years. It is set in a place where human consciousness is uploaded into a virtual world after people die.
While the show has consistently garnered good ratings, Upload Season 5 is not going to happen. When Prime Video renewed the show for the fourth season in March 2024, the streamer confirmed it would mark the conclusion of the series.
The renewal status of Upload Season 5
Upload Season 5 is not happening as the show has reached its conclusion with Season 4. Fortunately, the series was not abruptly canceled. Instead, Prime Video had announced the fourth season as the last one while renewing it in March 2024.
At the time, series creator Greg Daniels revealed that he always had a four-season arc in his mind, and was happy that he was able to conclude the story with a satisfying ending. He said in a statement:
“When I conceived Upload many years ago, I had the story arced out over four seasons, so I am thrilled to make the ending the fans deserve and the characters and creative team have been working towards. [Amazon’s] Jen Salke and Vernon Sanders have been our Angels and they deserve five stars.”
Hence, the series has reached a natural conclusion in its fourth season, and there will not be an Upload Season 5.
What the cast has said about the show’s ending
The show’s cast recently appeared for an interview with Collider, where they made their feelings known about the ending. Robbie Amell, who plays the lead, Nathan Brown, said he felt grateful that the series was receiving a proper farewell:
“Amazon giving us that final season, and reading those episodes and having that table read, I ended up feeling just really lucky to get to have an end to the story. Although it's sad to be ending, it was really special to get to do it. There aren't a lot of shows that get series finales, and knowing that it's a series finale and having this closure. I was just really happy that we were getting to do it.”
Andy Allo, who plays Nora, said that she was a ‘mess’ while filming the final season, as it was hard for her to say goodbye to her character:
“I was kind of holding on the entire filming of the last season, and then, maybe like that last week, in the last day or two, I just was an absolute mess. Also, because my character goes on a lot of adventures and journeys. There's a lot that happens to Nora this season. It kind of snuck up on me, that it was, ‘Oh, wait, this is it. This is the last day. Hold on! I'm not ready.’ It was really hard and bittersweet.”
The final season also stars Allegra Edwards as Ingrid Kannerman, Andrea Rosen as Lucy Slack, Josh Banday as Ivan Spelich, Zainab Johnson as Aleesha Morrison-Downey, Kevin Bigley as Luke Crossley, and Owen Daniels as A.I. Guy.
All episodes of Upload Season 4 are now streaming on Prime Video.
