Chadwick Boseman, the American actor best known for playing T’Challa, or Black Panther, in Marvel films, passed away too soon, at the age of 43, in 2020. The actor had a successful career and won several accolades, including a Golden Globe.

Boseman is still well-remembered by fans and the industry, and now, as Boardwalk Times has reported, Words + Pictures is developing a Chadwick Boseman documentary.

Documentary about Chadwick Boseman in development

Chadwick Boseman was born to his parents, Carolyn and Leeroy Boseman, on 29th November 1976 in Anderson, North Carolina, where he was also raised. Boseman is known mostly for his work as an actor, but interestingly, that was not his first interest. His journey first began when he wrote a play called Crossroads in school. Boseman was great at basketball but chose to pursue the arts instead and eventually graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in directing from Howard University.

Chadwick Boseman initially directed several stage productions and worked as a playwright and stage actor before he worked in films or television. His first television role was in an episode of the show Third Watch, and then he went on to play guest roles in shows like Law & Order, CSI: NY, ER, and Cold Case. His first recurring role on television was as Reggie Montgomery in All My Children, and then Nathaniel Ray Taylor in Lincoln Heights.

As Boardwalk Times reported, Words + Pictures is developing a documentary about the late actor. We do not know exactly what the documentary will focus on, but it will likely honor Chadwick Boseman's work and impact as a Black actor in the industry. Where and when the documentary will be released is yet to be revealed.

Words + Pictures is a production studio that was founded by Connor Schell and Chernin Entertainment in 2021. Schell was formerly the Content Chief at ESPN and is now the CEO of Words + Pictures. The studio also has a production branch led by President and Executive Producer Dave Chamberlin, called Full Day. Words + Pictures has distributed its media across various platforms. Some of their productions include Super/Man: The Christopher Reeve Story, Countdown: Inspiration4 Mission to Space, Giannis: The Marvelous Journey, Open Heart, The Lionheart, and Super League: The War for Football.

Chadwick Boseman's legacy is one to be remembered. While he passed away too soon, the actor delivered some of the most praiseworthy performances during his career. Boseman became a Marvel icon after he played T'Challa / Black Panther in Black Panther (2018), but his first appearance as the character was in Captain America: Civil War (2016). He also played T'Challa in Avengers: Infinity War (2018) and Avengers: Endgame (2019).

Since Boseman passed away before Black Panther: Wakanda Forever (2020), the creators decided to honor his performance as T'Challa and did not recast him. We were told that T'Challa died, which was followed by Shuri, his sister, succeeding as the Black Panther. Other than his roles in Marvel, Boseman is known for playing Andre Davis in 21 Bridges (2019), Norman Earl "Stormin' Norm" Holloway in Da 5 Bloods (2020), and Levee Green in Ma Rainey's Black Bottom (2020).

While there is not much information about the documentary available yet, it will hopefully be a step towards preserving the legacy of the celebrated actor.
