Gilmore Girls, first aired October 5, 2000, introduced the audience to the fast-talking, coffee-addicted world of Lorelai and Rory Gilmore in the small town of Stars Hollow. The warmly received show was an instant classic with its lean prose, emotional depth, and heart-wrenching sibling relationships.

In 2007, the show was canceled. However, in 2016, it was revived on Netflix as the Netflix revival Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life. Lorelai and Rory were revisited in the four-part miniseries nearly 10 years later, though the series was met with mixed reviews among fans because of its tone and the ending.

Still, Gilmore Girls star Lauren Graham has now given a retrospective reflection upon the experience, including the hardships and joys of returning to a character that became her calling card.

In a recent interview with Collider, Gilmore Girls star Lauren Graham was quite open about the Netflix revival and how she feels about being back in Lorelai Gilmore after nearly a decade without seeing her. The actress, with her bolt-of-lightening appeal, her sincerity of heart, told us that as gratifying an experience as it was, there were also some complications involved.

Speaking at her Hollywood Walk of Fame ceremony, Graham reflected on the Gilmore Girls revival, saying,

“I was having the time of my life. I was on clouds every single day at work, and I felt like the work was really good and the episodes were really beautiful.”

Her lyrics appealed to long-time fans who will remember that A Year in the Life was controversial due to its lack of pace and those infamous last four words.

Lauren Graham's reflections demonstrate her awareness that Gilmore Girls has had a lasting cultural impact, and decades after appearing in shows like Parenthood and The Mighty Ducks: Game Changers and selling bestselling books, Graham is proud of what she has created as Lorelai, the character she calls the most creatively fulfilling of her life.

Despite both positive and negative reception, Graham emphasized that she was pleased to see that the revival allowed the cast and those who made it to reunite with the dedicated viewership of the show. "We must leave them a nice goodbye," she said, and she was always ready to be visited again, provided the story sounded good.

Cast of Gilmore Girls

The most notable Gilmore Girls actors are Lorelai Gilmore (Lauren Graham), Rory Gilmore (Alexis Bledel), and Emily Gilmore (Kelly Bishop). The late Edward Herrmann magnificently portrayed the role of Richard Gilmore, who had just left it quite recently.

The inclusion of actors like Scott Patterson (Luke Danes), Melissa McCarthy (Sookie St. James), Keiko Agena (Lane Kim), and Yanic Truesdale (Michel Gerard) added some flavor and warmth to the cast. Milo Ventimiglia, Matt Czuchry, and Jared Padalecki finished the unforgettable romantic tales of Rory.

The Gilmore Girls cast and the emotional nuances that can be found in it continue to attract audiences decades after it premiered, and Stars Hollow will always remain one of the most popular fictional towns in television.
