The 2025 TV show, Countdown’s character Amber Oliveras, definitely faces a lot of trouble in the series. She just doesn't seem to catch a break. The aspect of continuously being targeted undoubtedly takes a toll on her. The ending of Countdown leaves with a huge cliffhanger about Amber’s situation. Though we know that she survives to the end of the first season, the question is for how long she will be able to survive.
However, besides the constant danger, there is also an intriguing aspect that keeps us wondering. In the first season, we see an interesting conversation between Mark Meachum and Amber. Mark points out that the equation between them is unique.
However, things do not turn out well as Amber does not think that he is being honest with her. It makes us wonder whether there is any possible future with the two of them together. Countdown star Jessica Camacho reveals her thoughts all about it.
Countdown’s Jessica Camacho opens up Amber’s Finale and possible future
It cannot be denied that the chemistry between the two of them in Countdown is electrifying. The main focus of the series is on the crime, yet a little hint of romance would definitely be a great addition to the series. Jessica Camacho, while discussing the many ways that Mark and Amber's relationship could go in the future, says in the interview with Collider,
“I think it would be fun to explore, for sure.”
Their connection is indeed worth investing in. The hesitation between them could be explored further in the upcoming season of the series. There is a deep-seated vulnerability. This vulnerability prevents the two of them from diving deep into their feelings for one another.

As we know, both Mark Meachum and Amber are dedicated to their professional lives. Hence, there is a possibility that their personal feelings coming into the way of their work could cause a hindrance for both of them.
While discussing the scene with Mark Meachum, expressing his feeling about their unique dynamic, Jessica Camacho, in an interview with Collider, says that her character, Amber’s decision to shoot down Mark’s advances was a form of defense mechanism. She explains that Amber felt that Meachum was joking with her, which triggered her response.
Though both of them end up pretending it was a joke, Jessica Camacho says how her character and Mark were actually feeling during the moment. She says,
“ It’s ridiculous, but it’s also fun to play somebody who is scared of that. It’s fun to play that because it gives you somewhere to go. It’s the long game.”

Although Jessica Camacho admits she doesn’t know what happens beyond the first season, she says she “personally cannot wait to find out.” That leaves fans curious about how Countdown will expand Amber’s storyline in the next chapter. Her traumatic encounter is bound to add a deeper layer of complexity to the series. At the same time, the question of whether Amber and Mark Meachum can finally overcome their hesitation and embrace a relationship promises to be a compelling highlight of the new season.
