Fans have praised Marvel’s X-MEN ’97 for its unique blend of grand action, a moving plot, and nostalgic charm, making it a Disney+ standout. The exciting conclusion of the first season left fans with many unanswered questions and a strong desire to see what would happen next. Bishop’s voice actor, Isaac Robinson-Smith, has given fans something to look forward to, as Season 2 is scheduled for 2026.

Robinson-Smith shared his excitement for the next season at SDCC 2025. There, he expressed appreciation for the series’ director but gave no specifics about the narrative. He said:

He witnessed the overwhelming reaction to X-MEN ’97 Season 1 and predicted that the following season would build on that momentum with even more surprises and emotional subtlety.

In the Season 1 conclusion, the X-Men were divided across multiple past and future realities. While Magneto, Xavier, and some of their allies battled a young En Sabah Nur in ancient Egypt, Cyclops and Jean Grey were sent to the future to meet relatives.

Bishop is well-known in X-Men storylines, mainly for his intimate connection to time travel, which makes him critical to the show’s future direction. At the end of Season 1, the X-Men were separated by time and space. This left the entire team fractured and defenseless, and in Season 2, Bishop is expected to play a larger role as the one who can bring everyone back together.

The character’s voice actor, Isaac Robinson-Smith, implied that Bishop will have a proactive role in leading the group, maintaining their focus, and preparing them for the threats ahead. He may be the pivotal player in reuniting the squad and taking on new challenges in various timeframes because of his strength, leadership, and sense of duty.

X-MEN ’97 is more than just a rerun of the original series, as demonstrated by Marvel Studios Animation. It carries on the narrative with new concepts, poignant scenes, and thrilling action.
