According to reports, Y: Marshals is an upcoming spin-off from the Yellowstone universe by Taylor Sheridan.
Sheridan’s contract with Paramount ends in 2028, and he has already signed this lucrative new deal with Universal. He might be less creatively involved in the show, but until then, he would shape a model that could keep the show sustainable without him. This will definitely change the authorial tone of the franchise, but it gives out another world of cowboy conflict to Yellowstone fans.
Y: Marshals will debut in March 2026 and will continue Kayce Dutton's story, rebuilding his life in Montana. He will be raising his son, Tate, post the deaths of John and Jamie Dutton. Kayce will be joining the US Marshals, and this will turn the show into a procedural and not the ranch-focused melodrama fans are used to.
Some Yellowstone actors will be returning in the spinoff, like Gil Birmingham as Tribal Chairman Thomas Rainwater and Mo Brings Plenty as Mo, along with Luke Grimes. Read on to know the complete cast and character guide of the show.
Y: Marshals cast and character guide: Who plays whom in the Yellowstone Spin-off

Luke Grimes as Kayce Dutton
Luke Grimes, playing Kayce, will be the central protagonist. In Yellowstone, he was shown as a former Navy SEAL and rancher. In the new show, as mentioned, he will be joining a U.S. Marshals unit in Montana. He must balance his past trauma and military skills, along with his new duties.
Logan Marshall-Green as Pete Calvin
Pete is one of Kayce's old military friends, and they will be seen serving together as Navy SEALs. Pete is someone who understands his past and what he has gone through, becoming Kayce's closest ally.
Arielle Kebbel as Belle
Kayce meets Belle in the US Marshal unit in Montana. Belle is mostly on the fields and is part of Kayce's new team. She is meant to eventually become part of the central narrative, providing moral support to Kayce.
Ash Santos as Andrea
In a procedural show, most primary characters are members of the US Marshal unit. Likewise, Andrea is one too, joining Kayce's unit. Her presence hints that the show is going to focus on a diverse, ensemble marshal team, not just Kayce, exploring the lives of many with some fresh conflict and camaraderie.
Here are the supporting cast members of Y: Marshals

Alongside Kayce and a few Marshals in his close circle, some more cast members will appear in a recurring role. Brett Cullen will appear as Harry Gifford, the head of the Marshal unit in Montana, in Y: Marshals. He will be Kayce's boss, and his leadership will interfere with the drama occurring in Kayce's life. Alongside him is Tatanka Means as Miles, portrayed as a Marshal in the sales unit.
Gil Birmingham is Thomas Rainwater, a Yellowstone veteran tying the spinoff to its roots. Mo Brings Plenty is also returning as Mo from Yellowstone and could act as a bridge between Kayce's past on the ranch and his new life in law enforcement.
Lastly, Brecken Merrill appears as Tate Dutton, Kayce’s son. Their bond will add emotional layers to Kayce's character.
Therefore, we can say that Y: Marshals comes with a mix of old and new cast ensemble. This will connect the audience to the original show and induce nostalgia while also introducing new characters as a member of the US Marshal unit Kayce joins, changing the overall tone of the show.
