Y: Marshals is finally happening, and fans are honestly losing it a little. After months of tiny updates and cryptic posts, we finally know that it officially drops on Sunday, March 1, 2026, at 8 p.m. ET.

If you are wondering when you can watch the Yellowstone spin-off and Kayce’s life unfold next, or who’s joining him or how dark this new world gets, don’t worry. Here’s a quick look at everything you need to know so far, all in one place.

The release date reveal for Y: Marshals

The moment fans kept refreshing for is officially here because Y: Marshals now has a locked premiere day. CBS confirmed that the new Yellowstone spin-off will arrive on Sunday, March 1, 2026, at 8 p.m. ET, releasing right in the middle of the network’s busy midseason.

It sits between 60 Minutes and Tracker, which feels like CBS putting it right in the spotlight. The series will kick off with a 13-episode first season, giving us a good look at Kayce as he steps into a whole new world away from the ranch.

Luke Grimes even teased on Instagram in August that filming was coming up soon and hinting they were gearing up for production. And yes, CBS already confirmed this spin-off is a huge part of their 2025-26 lineup, which makes the wait feel kinda worth it. What fans are most curious about is how the show handles Kayce’s life after Yellowstone.

The official synopsis says the series follows him after he joins:

“An elite unit of U.S. Marshals, combining his skills as a cowboy and Navy SEAL to bring range justice to Montana, where he and his teammates must balance family, duty and the high psychological cost that comes with serving as the last line of defense in the region's war on violence.”

Where can you watch Y: Marshals without losing your mind searching?

Many fans assumed Y: Marshals would drop straight onto streaming, but CBS surprised everyone by giving it a full network premiere first. That means every episode will air weekly on CBS at 8 p.m. ET on Sundays, which is honestly pretty smart because it builds the same hype Yellowstone had during its early days.

After it airs on TV, episodes will make their way to streaming. CBS hasn’t given the exact date yet, but the plan is for episodes to land on Paramount+ later on. That lines up with how the network handled other big shows this past year. And just in case fans were confused: this one isn’t going to land on a streamer first, unlike a lot of spin-offs lately.

Some viewers are hoping it ends up on Peacock later since all five seasons of Yellowstone are already streaming there, but nothing has been officially confirmed. What we do know is that CBS wants a huge audience right from the start. So basically, turn on your TV on Sunday nights, then hop onto streaming once episodes begin rolling out afterward.

The returning cast, new faces, and the surprising absences

The cast list for Y: Marshals is stacked, and honestly, it surprised a lot of people in the best way. Luke Grimes is back as Kayce Dutton, stepping into a version of the character we have never fully seen before.

Fans get even more familiar faces because Gil Birmingham (Thomas Rainwater), Mo Brings Plenty (Mo) and Brecken Merrill (Tate Dutton) are all returning. Seeing Tate back is huge since his bond with Kayce has always been one of the show’s biggest emotional anchors.

The new cast for Y: Marshals is equally as exciting. Logan Marshall-Green plays Pete Calvin, someone connected to Kayce’s military past. Then we have Arielle Kebbel, Ash Santos, and Tatanka Means joining as main cast members, plus Brett Cullen in a recurring role. The spin-off added eight new actors overall, making the story feel bigger and sharper than what we’ve seen before.

But the cast list did leave fans with one major question: Where is Monica? Kelsey Asbille isn’t listed for the season, and while the show hasn’t explained why yet, it is something that will be addressed on-screen. Until then, everyone’s waiting to see how her absence shapes Kayce’s story.

And of course, fans are still secretly hoping Beth and Rip pop up at some point, especially since they are confirmed for their own future spin-off titled The Dutton Ranch. Nothing is confirmed, but Yellowstone fans always manifest cameos into existence.

Y: Marshals feels like the next big chapter the Yellowstone universe needed, and now we finally have the date, the cast lineup and the way to watch it. Whether you are excited for the action, the returning characters or Kayce stepping into a totally new life, this spin-off is building the kind of buzz only a Yellowstone project could pull off. With a March 1 premiere ahead, fans can finally count down for real.
