There's no doubt that Yellowstone and its universe have risen to a state of eminence hitherto unknown to most other TV shows. When Taylor Sheridan first came out with Yellowstone, it was just a Kevin Costner-led drama set in Montana. However, that soon changed with its raging success, which saw the release of the Yellowstone spin-offs 1883 and 1923.
While many other shows of such magnitude, such as Game of Thrones and Breaking Bad, have resorted to killing off their main and most loved characters by the finale, the Paramount show holds the rare distinction of keeping most of its favorite characters alive.
Here's everything that you need to know.
Yellowstone made sure that all the important characters survived the season 5 finale
By the time Yellowstone season five finale rolled its end credits, almost all of the important characters had survived, including Kayce, Rip, and Beth. The only exception to this was the character of John Dutton III, the family patriarch played by Kevin Costner, who died offscreen just before the premiere of the final season's second half.
After the end of the events of Yellowstone season five, Beth and Rip relocated to a ranch in Dillon, Montana. They are expected to be the subject of another spin-off show titled Dutton Ranch that is slated to air on Paramount+. On the other hand, the character of Rip gave up his job as a Livestock Commissioner and would be seen next in a procedural show on CBS titled Y: Marshals. Contrary to the flagship show, the Yellowstone spinoffs 1883 and 1923 did feature two of the most heartbreaking character deaths i.e. Elsa Dutton at the end of 1883 and Alex Dutton on the 1923 season two finale.
Julia Schlaepfer opens up about her character on 1923 season 2
Following the heartbreaking second season finale of the spin-off show, actress Julia Schlaepfer appeared on an exclusive Q&A interview with Indiewire. In response to a question about her character Alex Dutton on the latest season of the show, Schlaepfer remarked:
"Everything that Alex does throughout Season 2 is all out of a mother’s love and out of fighting to keep her baby alive and bring her family to Bozeman. At the end, when she gives birth to that baby and has pretty much expended all of her life force doing so, the only thing that she wants to do for the last minutes, hours, seconds of her life is make sure that that baby stays alive and that baby will be OK. That decision she makes is just really what every decision Alexandra makes is born out of, which is love and this selfless protection for the people in her life."
Yellowstone is exclusively available on Paramount+.
