After a wait of almost 2 years, You is coming back with its fifth and final season. You Season 5 will be premiering on Netflix with 10 new episodes on April 24, 2025. All the episodes will be dropped together on the streamer, giving viewers a chance to binge the latest adventures of Joe Goldberg.
You Season 4 ended with the shocking revelation of Joe being the Eat-The-Rich killer after he had moved to London with a new identity to escape punishment for his previous crimes.
As the final season premieres in a day, now is a good time for a quick recap of all that happened in You Season 4, as the story will be picking up from the point it had ended.
You Season 4 saw Joe Goldberg relocating to London
After committing a series of murders, which also involved killing his own wife, Love, Joe kept his son Henry with a neighbor and moved to London, where he started a new life under the fake name of Jonathan Moore, an English professor.
Moving to London also introduced him to a bunch of new friends, including Lady Phoebe, Adam, Kate, etc. All these people belong to an elite class of the London society, and after Joe befriends them, someone, known as the Eat-The-Rich killer, starts killing them off one after the other.
Since all these people are Joe’s friends, he gets involved in these murders as he tries to solve the case. The Eat-The-Rich killer seems to be the primary antagonist of You Season 4, and seeing Joe as someone who is trying to catch the killer brings a fresh change to his character.
Joe is revealed to be the Eat-The-Rich killer in You Season 4
However, despite portraying Joe in a different light, You Season 4 dropped a shocking twist, which revealed that Joe actually had not changed at all, and it was he who was murdering his friends.
As Joe is revealed to be the Eat-The-Rich killer, it becomes clear that he had been dissociating this whole time, as he did not have any memory of committing these murders. Moreover, he had been hallucinating writer Rhys Montrose as the killer and also murdered him as a result of his suspicions.
However, when Joe finally comes back to his senses and realizes what he has done, he feels that there is no hope left for him and attempts to take his life. Unsurprisingly, he survives and wakes up in a hospital with Kate by his side. While he confesses to Kate about what he did, he does not tell her that he also murdered her father.
Nadia helps Marienne escape from Joe’s captivity in You Season 4
In another shocking revelation, it is exposed that Joe had kept Marienne captive. However, with the help of one of Joe’s students, Nadia, she successfully escapes after pretending to be dead.
As Nadia comes closer to finding out the truth about Joe, he kills her boyfriend, with whom she had broken into Joe's flat to find evidence against him. Moreover, Joe also frames Nadia for her boyfriend’s murder and threatens her that he will kill all her family members if she ever tells the truth to anyone.
Nadia, therefore, accepts punishment on Joe’s behalf and, fearing for the safety of her family, she keeps silent as ordered by Joe.
All seasons of You can be streamed on Netflix.
