Netflix's Swedish coming-of-age romantic teen series Young Royals ran for three seasons from 2021 to 2024, topping the platform's Top 10 charts in more than 12 countries. Edvin Ryding as Prince Wilhelm "Wille" of Sweden

Swedish actor Edvin Ryding leads the Young Royals cast as Prince Wilhelm or Wille, to Simon and his friends. While Wilhelm's arrival in Hillerska is rooted in tragedy & scandal and he finds it difficult to adjust in his new elite boarding school, he forms a genuine connection with Simon, the gay scholarship student at his school. As Wille deepens his relationship with Simon, he is faced with the realities of their contrasting worlds.

The 2021 Netflix romantic show proved to be a breakout role for Ryding, earning him a much-deserved Rising Star Award at the Stockholm International Film Festival. He recently starred as Erik Sundqvist in the 2025 post-apocalyptic horror film 28 Years Later and is also a part of the ensemble cast for the upcoming dystopian film The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping.

Omar Rudberg as Simon Eriksson

Venezuelan and Swedish singer and actor Omar Rudberg leads the Young Royals cast as Simon, the shy rising star of his school choir. Unlike Wille and his elite friends, Simon hails from a humble family and is a non-boarding student at Hillerska. While Simon struggles to adapt with his rich classmates, he catches Wille's eye and the two begin a romantic relationship that is put through the wringer across three seasons.

Like his co-star Ryding, the series proved to be a breakout hit for Omar Rudberg, earning him (and his music) Global recognition and Gaygalan Award for the Best Duo in 2022.

Malte Gårdinger as August Horn of Årnäs

Swedish actor Malte Gårdinger is another addition to the Young Royals cast, who plays August, a member of the royal family and Wille's second cousin. While Wille is grounded, August is pompous and the captain of his rowing team. The latter seasons of the series explore August's redemption arc as he struggles with mental health issues and forms a romantic interest in Sara, Simon's sister.

Nikita Uggla as Felice Ehrencrona

Actress Nikita Uggla plays Felice, the sociable, monarchy-obsessed elite student at Hillerska and part of the modern nobility. Felice is known for her tight social circle of female friends and supports his childhood friend, Wille, when he first arrives in his new boarding school.

Frida Argento as Sara Eriksson

Swedish actress Frida Argento is another addition to the Young Royals cast, who plays Sara, Simon's elder sister. Like her brother, Sara is also a non-boarding student at Hillerska who has social difficulty in fitting into the elite circle at her school. She eventually develops a complicated romantic relationship with August, which distances her from her brother.
