Actress Melissa Tang is no stranger to the extended The Big Bang Theory world since she has the distinction of appearing on all of the spin-offs and reboot shows within the franchise. Melissa Tang was first seen as the marine biologist Mandy Chow on The Big Bang Theory. She then followed this up by appearing as Ms. Fenley on Young Sheldon and was finally seen as the mom, Jackie, on Georgie & Mandy's First Marriage.

Although many fans might have forgotten about Tang's cameo on The Big Bang Theory, her recent appearance on Georgie & Mandy's First Marriage has once again brought her back into the limelight.

Melissa Tang's role as Mandy Chow on The Big Bang Theory

For Tang, making numerous appearances spread out across The Big Bang Theory franchise seems to be a cakewalk. The first time that audiences were acquainted with her character of Mandy Chow was during the premiere episode of the original show's ninth season titled, The Matrimonial Momemtum, wherein Leonard and Penny were about to tie the knot on their wedding day, but things soon went downhill after Leonard made the shocking confession of having kissed another girl while he was on the North Sea expedition.

Going into further details, Leonard described how he was seasick at the time, and the act of making out with the girl in question didn't turn out to be a memorable experience, especially since she was a smoker. Penny initially took it in good faith, remarking that although she is upset over this, she's ready to let this slide as the event occurred before she had met Leonard. Nevertheless, Leonard and Penny eventually ended up spending their wedding night separately and on their own after Leonard dropped the truth bomb that the girl with whom he had made out is Mandy Chow and that she is his colleague.

Melissa Tang advised Sheldon to pursue music on Young Sheldon

Following her brief appearance on The Big Bang Theory, Tang was next seen on Young Sheldon as Ms. Fenley, a music teacher at Sheldon's school. Ms. Fenley chanced upon Sheldon playing the piano flawlessly in the music room and, upon further inspection, discovered to her amazement that he could strike pitch-perfect chords. She then proceeded to convince Sheldon to take up the course of music as a career choice. This proved to be one of those switch moments, which, if materialized, would have caused Sheldon to become a completely different character.

However, with his characteristic apathy, Sheldon turned down Ms. Fenley's advice with the downright derogatory dismissal that musicians are drug addicts. Although he eventually tried to warm up to Ms. Fenley by asking her to teach him the violin, as he wanted to emulate Albert Einstein's musical hobby, the latter declined. The last time we saw Fenley on Young Sheldon was when she gave Sheldon an old violin and a self-learning tape.
